We met on Hinge and as cliché as it is, it’s definitely the app that’s meant to be deleted! We talked for several months before deciding to meet up for our first date. Due the long distance, we decided to meet half way in South Haven for a beach date. We discussed meeting up at the South beach, grabbing an early dinner, and walking the pier. Little did we know that our first date would last 11 HOURS! From the moment we met in person, we could not stop talking! The whole date went seamlessly. We didn’t want to part ways, we said our goodbyes and hugged in the parking lot but then ended up talking for several more hours in the car until after dark. We even confessed our love for one another (I know, cringe) but we both agreed we have never felt this way before. I never believed in love at first sight until I met Chandler. We finally parted ways at 1am and proceeded to talk to each other on the phone on our drive back home.
The best day of my life was the day Chandler got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He managed to keep the whole thing a surprise, but there were hints. Like instructing my parents to turn off their location the day of, making me park at a particular spot at the beach, and picking out my outfits for our “photoshoot.” The entire day of our engagement, I was under the impression that it was a fall beach photoshoot by Chandlers brother, Abe, who does photography professionally. I had picked out several outfits (thrifted of course) for the day, but Chandler was adamant that I wore my white dress for the first outfit. When I arrived at South Haven, I was greeted by Chandler at my car door and Abe at the top of the dunes. Chandler escorted me down the stairs to the beach. Abe begin taking some shots, but I thought he was taking practice shots and adjusting his camera settings. At this point, I was still completely clueless as to what was happening. It wasn’t until I saw a mason jar in the sand with a tea light candle inside with a post card, written on with memories of our first date that I knew. I immediately began shaking with adrenaline. Chandler proceeded to take my hand and walk me through the rest of the path he created, lined with postcards of all our previous dates. When we get to the end of the post cards, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes!
