December 31, 2016 Chance kissed me at midnight and told me 2017 would be the year that we get engaged. Well 365 1/4 days later he got down on one knee in my bedroom and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Chance has never been a planner. In fact, he picked up my ring and took my dad to lunch on Friday and hadn’t quite figured out when or how he was going to pop the question. He worked 24 hours Saturday and we had plans to go to church when we got off Sunday at 7 am. I had bought champagne for New Year’s and he came over telling me he had bought orange juice for mimosas after church. Which I thought nothing of because 1) it’s New Years and 2) we love mimosas. Yelling from the bedroom as I was trying to get ready, I tell him to put the champagne in the fridge because I’d left it on the liquor cabinet. I continued to get ready as Chance was rushing me. Meanwhile texting one of my bridesmaids, Taylor, that I no longer think he’s going to propose because our hotel plans changed for that night. I finish getting ready and Chance kisses me and tells me I look very pretty and that he thinks he’s forgetting to do something before church. Of course I condescendingly ask if he put the champagne in the fridge like I’d asked. He tells me yes and that he has something to ask me. At which point he gets down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was completely unplanned and perfectly us 💕
