Chance was doing YYAM in Costa Rica last March and came back to the states for a couple weeks between his two stays in Costa Rica. He joined his college pal Jordan Becker and went to a bible study Jordan leads with Kelsey Lee Dreiling. That night in Kelsey's kitchen, Chance and Kelsey hit it off and Chance caught Kelsey's eye. Chance left to Costa Rica and they didn't keep in touch. Kelsey didn't know but in April Chance texted Jordan for more information on the beautiful girl he met a month before. Chance came back to the States that summer and starting coming around to more events where Kelsey was. They had good conversations but never turned into more until August... Kelsey was going to Costa Rica for an adventure with her friend Kaylen. Kelsey has always been known to pinch pennies and rented a manual car in Costa Rica even though she didn't know how to drive manual. Kelsey asked Chance if he would be willing to teach her. It just so happened he was available that night and they took to the closest vacant parking lot. From that moment on, from driving lessons, to bike rides Chance and Kelsey continued to learn about each other and how they had similar passions and dreams of serving and ministry and how to love people and soon each other. The ups and downs of the last year and the support of tons of people around them brings us to April 17th and their engagement!
Kelsey loves surprises but surprises are hard because she's is also nosy and a detective. Chance had a major victory on Friday, Aprils 17th when he succeeded in the best surprise ever. Kelsey was moving out of her house in a couple weeks and her roommates wanted to do a last hurrah before Kelsey moved out. Quarantine and working at home has left us all in sweatpants and unwashed hair, so we planned to put on real pants and have a girls night out on Saturday. Here comes Friday. Olivia Meiste comes up to Kelsey at 3pm and said we are changing roommate night to tonight because the weather is nicer. If Kelsey had suspicions about Saturday, those were gone because there's no way an engagement could have such a last minute change. Kelsey got ready and took a nap excited for roommate night but slightly disappointed the proposal wasn't coming. Roommates, Cat and Liv, drove to pulpit rock. Cat had never been she said and it is Kelsey's favorite place to watch the sunset in Colorado Springs. They walk up to the beautiful overlook and...there's Chance! A path of roses led to Chance waiting on a blanket with candles. He proceeded to read Kelsey a poem he wrote while their talented friend, Meegan, photographed the whole thing. After the proposal they enjoyed the sunset with Fuzzy's nachos and margaritas which are Kelsey's favs. After enjoying the moment they went back to celebrate with roommates with their favorite ice cream and many laughs. The night was perfect.
