Ryan and I actually met on Tinder. At the time I was finishing up my freshman year at the University of Toledo and he was living in Bowling Green. We matched on Tinder and he messaged me first, and we never stoped talking. We talked back and forth for around 4 months before we actually met up for the first time. It wasn't long into our relationship that we knew we were meant to be.
In December of 2018 Kayla and I started seriously talking about getting married, so I said well let's go look at rings. We went to my friend's family owned jewelry store, and I had a ring custom made for her. Little did she know how long she would have to wait to get it. I made countless plans to make a big romantic gesture, but the plans kept falling through. I decided I couldn't wait any longer and I was going to ask her to marry me on Easter 2020 in front of my parents... but I chickened out. A few weeks passed and I kept thinking about it and decided no more excuses I was going to ask her that day. I told her that we should go for a motorcycle ride and rode down to the river in Grand Rapids. We've been kayaking there before and had so much fun, not to mention Kayla loves the water so it was perfect. We walked out to a shallow area and I got down on one knee and asked her "Well, what do you say?". I was so nervous thats all I could muster up to say, even though I knew she would say yes . Luckily, she said yes! Looking back at all the planning and trying to make it extra special I wouldn't change a thing.
