FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We require RSVPs to be submitted by June 20th, one month before the wedding. If you haven't responded by June 28th, we may not be able to accommodate you as a passenger on the streetcar but you will be welcome to attend the reception!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we are only able to accomodate the names listed due to the size of the ceremony and reception venues.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love ALL of your children, however we have decided to make this an adults-only celebration due to the small size of both our ceremony and reception venues. We hope you understand!

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

As an established couple, we would prefer monetary gifts towards a down payment on our future home or towards our upcoming honeymoon. If you prefer, we do have two small registries that can be found by clicking Registry at the top of the page.

Question

Where is the ceremony venue?

Answer

Our ceremony is going to take place on the High Level Streetcar! Guests will embark on the journey at the Jasper Plaza stop. Chad and his groomspeople will also be boarding here. Kara and her half of the bridal party will board on the stop afterwards which is the stop just before the car will cross the High Level Bridge. 10910 100 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB

Question

Can I take pictures during the wedding?

Answer

Due to the size of the streetcar, we will strongly enforce a no photos rule. Take the time to be unplugged and enjoy this happy celebrate with us through your eyes, not your phone!

Question

Where is the reception venue?

Answer

The House of Henderson is my parents house located in the beautiful Wedgewood Ravine subdivision in the southwest of Edmonton. 1520 Wellwood Way, Edmonton, AB

Question

What time does the reception end?

Answer

Due to local ordinance, the reception will end at 11:00pm with our grand exit.

Question

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes the streetcar is wheelchair accessible! The House of Henderson does not have ramps to enter but please contact one of us to discuss options for how we can accomodate you!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony and/or reception?

Answer

There are a few Impark lots to choose from nearby the Jasper Plaza Streetcar stop as well as standard downtown street parking. There is standard neighbourhood parking surrounding the House of Henderson. Please be conscious of our wonderful neighbours and do not block any driveways! You can park along Wedgewood Boulevard (main street of the neighbourhood) and walk to the house, it's about a 5 minute walk. Carpooling is strongly recommended. Feel free to drop off less mobile people at the house and park further away.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Please come in your fancy cocktail outfits! I will be wearing a floor length dress as will the ladies of the bridal party. The boys will be wearing suits and bowties! Ladies, as much as my parents will appreciate their lawns being aerated by your heels, I'd suggest choosing shoes appropriate for grass!

Question

Is there any colours I should avoid?

Answer

The bridal party will be wearing jewel toned greens and blues. Please avoid these colours. Other greens and blues are okay!

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony is indoors as it is inside the streetcar. The reception will mainly be outside however there is room inside the house as well. If there is inclement weather, we will have the delight of being close to our friends and family inside.

Question

What food will be served?

Answer

We are being catered by Sunterra Market who will be providing both hot and cold 100% gluten free hors d'oeuvres. There will also be vegetarian options as well. We will be making some vegan options ourselves!

Question

I have a food allergy or restriction, can I make a special request?

Answer

Of course! Please let us know as soon as possible. Sunterra will be providing us with macro ingredient lists which will be displayed with all food items. We will not be able to provide micro ingredients (ingredients of ingredients, eg. mayo and mustard ingredients) for their hors d'oeuvres but we definitely can for those that we will be making.

Question

Are you having a cake cutting?

Answer

We definitely are! There will be a small gluten free cake to be cut. Blueberry, peach and apple pies will be provided by Celebrate! Gluten Free who will also be providing our wedding cake. Lastly we will have vegan creme brûlée.

Question

Will there be a bar?

Answer

We will be having a signature cocktail upon arrival. Kara's father, Al, will be making wine for the occasion, both white and red. As for non-alcoholic drinks there will be water, a variety of different sodas both sugary and diet as well as punch. Coffee and teas will also be available.

Question

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

Answer

Nope! We've gotten quite used to our names the way they are and can't imagine going by anything different!

Question

I have more questions!

Answer

Please send an email to info@chadandkara.com and we’ll answer you as soon as we can.
