When Chad knew he was ready to ask Joelle to marry him, there was never a question about where it would happen. He had always known—there was only one place that could do justice to such a moment: Gramercy Park. Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, Gramercy Park is Joelle’s favorite place in the entire city. Quiet, romantic, and timeless, it's a lush green oasis in the middle of the chaos, known for its serenity and seclusion. It's also famously inaccessible to most New Yorkers—entry is only granted to residents of the 39 buildings that surround the park or to the lucky few who hold one of the coveted keys. Chad, ever the strategist, took this as a challenge. In the weeks leading up to January 4th, he put his networking skills into overdrive. Chad called in favors, reached out to members-only clubs, boutique hotels, and anyone he could think of who might possibly hold a key. There were emails, discreet inquiries, and a few hopeful texts that read more like long shots than real leads. But Chad was determined. For Joelle, it had to be Gramercy Park—or nothing at all. Eventually, after a few dead ends and near-misses, one of those long-shot connections came through. A key was in hand. On the morning of January 4th, the city was still quiet after the holidays, blanketed in the soft stillness of winter. Chad led Joelle through the wrought-iron gates, unlocking the park like a scene from a storybook. As they strolled past the evergreens and benches dusted with frost, Joelle didn’t suspect a thing—taking it all in—just the two of them in one of the city's most secret gardens. Then, with the Chrysler Building perfectly framed in the distance—Joelle’s favorite building in the city—Chad stopped, reached into his coat, and got down on one knee. With the keys to Gramercy Park in one hand and a ring in the other, Chad asked Joelle to marry him. She said yes.
