A few people would like to take credit for how we met, and we’re actually still deciding who takes the prize for this one. In Hannah’s mind, it all started when Tammy Grabarkievtz came to sit next to her during the auction of the Memorial Day Shiner Picnic and showed her a picture of her cute cousin Chad. Tammy said she thought Chad and Hannah should meet but Hannah was a little hesitant. Little did Hannah know, in Chad’s world, Tammy had already showed him a picture of Hannah on Good Friday earlier that year so the matchmaking seed had already been planted well in advance. Well, unfortunately, Hannah and Chad didn’t end up meeting at the picnic, and that’s a whole other story. If you want to know why, then you can ask Chad’s mom. Even though Chad and Hannah didn’t meet that day, Tammy wouldn’t let Chad’s mistake get in the way of her matchmaking skills, so she sent Chad Hannah’s number anyway and Chad ended up texting Hannah a few days later. The two future lovebirds decided to meet at a mutual friends wedding the next weekend. The Friday night before the wedding Chris Grabarkievtz insisted that Chad and Chris’ family take a ride over to Hannah’s house, which was perfect because Hannah only lived about two miles down the road. Now, this is the moment Chad and Hannah met, and yes you’re right, literally one day before the wedding they are attending together! That same night, Hannah’s mom, Laurie, met Chad and she later told Hannah that she had seen Chad in church before. She mentioned the cute guy to Hannah but Hannah doesn’t remember this. Honestly, who wouldn’t want their daughter to meet a handsome boy in Church?! Chad’s Uncle Doug said that he had also seen Hannah in church, but it wasn’t until this Friday night at Hannah’s house that they met. The next day, Saturday, after Chad had driven back to Houston to play in a golf tournament and THEN drove back to Shiner for the wedding, the two finally met at the wedding.
FINALLY on July 7th Chad asked Hannah to be his girlfriend and truly the rest is history. We could sit here and debate on who’s the better matchmaker, Chris, Tammy, Laurie, or Doug, but we all know it was a match made in heaven – something only God could bring to life.
