Medellín is a place full of beautiful mountain views and lively culture, offering a mix of contrasts and wonders. Known as the 'City of Eternal Spring,' this Colombian city is loved for its mild weather, green surroundings, and friendly people. Located in a valley surrounded by tall mountains, Medellín blends modern life with tradition, where the busy city meets peaceful parks and gardens. From its challenging past to its growth as a cultural and tech center, every part of the city tells an interesting story. Welcome to Medellín, a place where passion, creativity, and warmth come together to make every moment special. CLIMATE The climate of Medellín is one of its most standout characteristics and is beloved by those who visit. Temperatures typically range from 60°F to 80°F throughout the year, with minimal variation between the seasons. During the day, it’s common to enjoy warm, sunny weather. At night, temperatures drop slightly, offering a cool and pleasant climate.

General

Always have cash on hand, as you will need it to pay for taxis, buy food at street stands, etc. You can withdraw money from ATMs or exchange it at exchange offices. In Medellín, many people speak English, so you usually can communicate easily, especially in tourist sites, restaurants, and hotels. Always leave with enough time in advance, as traffic can be heavy. We recommend using Uber. It works like in the US and is a safe option. Avoid buying drugs. The sale, purchase, and use are illegal, and police occasionally make inspections and check people on the street for drugs. Be careful with your belongings and avoid displaying valuables in crowded places. Keep them close to you, and use cross-body bags for extra security. This simple precaution can help prevent unnecessary inconveniences. Avoid using your cell phone on the streets or in any car. We recommend not wearing expensive jewelry. Get travel insurance with coverage in Medellín.

Going Out

Take the same precautions you would in any big city and use common sense. Listen to the recommendations from tour guides and the staff at your accommodation. In Medellín, tap water is safe to drink, although it is better to drink bottled water in public places. Street food in markets or boulevards is usually excellent and inexpensive, although some items may be excessively fatty. There is a great variety of fruits on the street. They are cheap and safe to eat, but make sure you wash them first. Try not to get too drunk.
