Although we grew up in the same community and went to different schools, our paths didn’t truly cross until high school. It still feels incredible to think that long before we met, our families were already quietly connected—Chad’s granddaddy even built my grandparents’ home. Somehow, despite that shared history, we never really knew each other until the timing was just right. In high school, Chad and I never had a single class together during all four years, but we would always see each other in the hallway or at lunch. He was always the quiet one until you really got him to open up. I was quiet too, but I could open up more easily. Somehow, I caught his eye—and the rest was history. Our very first date was to the movies with both of our moms. Not the most traditionally romantic first date, but it’s a sweet part of what brought us together and something we still talk about today. As we spent more time together, we realized how much we shared. We both love being outdoors—whether it’s hunting, fishing, or spending time with our German shepherds, Lilly and Harper. Those simple moments together were when I knew there was something truly special between us. What started as two quiet kids crossing paths in the hallways has grown into a relationship built on faith, laughter, and years of shared memories. Now, after nearly eight years together (July 13th will make it official!), we’re grateful for every moment—past and present—that brought us to this chapter.
