Nobody ever thinks true love is waiting for them in plain sight, every day, at work. We grow up believing it's only made for fairy tales and movies. You coast throughout the days until, when you least expect it, love hits you like a tidal wave. We met working at Walgreens in Boothbay Harbor and I (Erin) had no intention on a relationship. Little did I know, he would change my life forever. The timing wasn't right for either one of us, so we went the next 4 years as co-workers and helping each other develop professionally. It wasn't until 2023 when Chris decided it was time to make a move and reached out one morning. I thought I was misreading the message, as I was preoccupied at the vet. I was adamant that I didn't want a relationship and agreed to meet for dinner at El Agave. And that was the end of the single life without me knowing it. Our dinner lasted over 3 hours, to the point of shutting down the restaurant and taking the conversation to the car for another hour. The nail in the coffin was the hug at the end of the night before going home. I was hooked. I spent weeks trying to convince myself it wasn't the right time, even Sasha (my dog) was tired of me always being on the phone with him. I texted my MOH Kristen one day and said, "I can't fight this feeling that this is meant to be." Another week went by and after watching Ocean's Thirteen we went to say goodbye and I made the move and went in for a kiss. As they say, the rest is history. After about 7 months of officially dating, Chris secretly went out and purchased a ring. We had lunch at my parents' house one Sunday and Chris and I had a bit of a stressful drive home so I immediately turned on "Beauty and the Beast" on Netflix to relax. At the scene where Beast and Belle start to dance, Chris got up to get a drink, came back, asked me to stand up and then he immediately got down on one knee. Of course I started crying, who wouldn't? Clearly I said "YES" and made the calls to family and friends who all thought something was wrong...because I'm not the calling type. The next few weeks consisted of me getting used to a ring on *that* finger and starting to create lists of what to do next. We have spent the last year and a half (2 years by the wedding date) having fun with the boys at mini golf, escape rooms, family dinners, game nights, and trying to tire out three very energetic dogs. Our careers have taken us to a different company and on fast tracks for promotions. We cannot wait for October to arrive and take a vacation for the wedding and then a cruise afterwards.
