We're getting married! ¡Nos vamos a casar!

We met through a mutual friend our senior year in high school. We actually had a class together but didn't talk, he was just a cute guy across the room at that time. Our friend insisted we would be perfect for each other so we decided to meet one another. At first, we were both shy around each other, him more than me! After a few weeks, I actually told him I felt like I didn't really know him well because he was so shy around me. After that day he said he would be more himself around me and has not stopped talking since then! We grew closer and closer each day and have now been together for 8+ years and counting! It will be 9 years on our wedding day. ♡

Nos conocimos por un amigo en común el último año de la prepa. De hecho, teníamos una clase juntos, pero no nos hablábamos, en ese tiempo el era solo un chico guapo a través de la clase. Nuestro amigo insistía que Cesar y yo seriamos perfectos el uno para el otro, así que decidimos conocernos. Al principio, los dos éramos tímidos, ¡el más que yo! Después de algunas semanas yo le dije que sentía que no nos conocíamos muy bien porque él era realmente tímido conmigo. Después de ese día, él me dijo que sería menos tímido y más el mismo cerca de mí, ¡no ha parado de hablar desde aquel entonces! Crecimos y nos volvimos cada vez más cercanos y ya llevamos más de 8 años juntos, ¡y contando! Cumpliremos 9 años juntos el día de nuestra boda. ♡

It was actually March 31st when he asked me out. We were walking after school by a small garden, he picked a flower, gave it to me, and asked if I would be his girlfriend. Of course I wanted to say yes, but at that time I was not allowed to have a boyfriend and my parents had recently lectured me over it. I explained my situation and how I felt and told him I would think about it. When I got home I thought about it and decided Cesar was worth any consequences I may face from my parents. The next day I picked a flower and asked Cesar to be my boyfriend, he said yes! It ended up falling on April 1st, but it was not an April fools joke, it just happened to be a coincidence!

Era 31 de marzo, estábamos caminando después de la escuela al lado de un pequeño jardín, el tomo una flor, me la dio, y me pregunto si quería ser su novia. Claro que quería decirle que sí, pero en ese tiempo no tenía permiso de mis padres para tener novio, y recientemente me habían dado un discurso sobre el tema. Así que le explique a Cesar mi situación, mis sentimientos hacia él y le dije que lo pensaría. Cuando llegue a la casa lo pensé más a fondo y decidí que estar con Cesar valía la pena, a pesar de las consecuencias que tendría que enfrentar con mis padres. El siguiente día yo tome una flor, se la di, y le pedí a él si quería ser mi novio, ¡dijo que si! Resulto que cayó en primero de abril, pero no era una broma para día de los inocentes, ¡solo era una coincidencia!

We were in Colorado, driving on our way to a hike. On the way over we saw a really nice, clear blue river on the side of the road, we decided to stop to check it out. I was eager to see it but Cesar was taking so long to get something out of the trunk, a little too long... so I grew suspicious that maybe he was planning on proposing. The thought left my mind as I got distracted trying to get past the wilderness to reach the river. Once we reached the river I wanted a selfie but Cesar kept insisting to take a picture of just me with his camera. I was confused and that's when he started to kneel down... he made multiple jokes about proposing over the years so I was not sure if this was another false alarm, so I just stared at him seriously the whole time. But then he pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him. I smiled and laughed and said yes!

Íbamos en el carro, rumbo a las montañas en Colorado cuando vimos un rio que nos llamó la atención. El agua se miraba super clara y azul así que decidimos parar. Yo estaba ansiosa de ver el rio, pero Cesar se estaba tardando mucho… más de lo normal… es cuando sospeche de que tal vez iba a proponerme matrimonio. Esa idea escapo de mi mente al tratar de llegar al rio a través del bosque. Cuando llegamos al rio yo quería tomarme una selfi con él, pero Cesar insistía en tomar una foto solamente de mi, con su cámara. Yo estaba confundida por su sugerencia y es cuando se empezó a arrodillar. Él ya había hecho varias bromas sobre proponerme matrimonio a través de los años. Yo no estaba segura si esta era otra falsa alarma, así que solo me le quede viendo seriamente al arrodillarse. Pero luego saco el anillo y me pregunto si me quería casar con él. Sonreí, me reí, ¡y dije que sí!
