When you think of true love, you don’t ever really think that it would need any help. It’s pretty straightforward; boy meets girl, they go on some dates, they begin to go steady, they get engaged, move in together, and then get married. That’s what we thought anyway. Neither of us thought that we would meet our soulmate from the opposite side of the country. Emily lived in rural upstate New York and Cesar lived in urban southern California and neither had ever experienced the others lives. It took one phone call, Emily’s pup Sophie, and a ruined shoe to change the course of our lives forever. Emily’s dog Sophie had an affinity for chewing shoes when she was a puppy. Just when we thought she was over the shoe chewing she managed to destroy Emily’s only pair of work shoes! Frustrated and upset she vented to the first person she was able to talk to, Cesar. After talking through her frustrations, we got to talking about Sophie and how much she means to Emily. She texted Cesar photos of Sophie and the rest was history! Many months of phone calls and text messages led to our first meeting when Emily traveled to southern CA, which led to a very fast paced long-distance relationship. The only good thing that came out of a global pandemic was extremely inexpensive plane tickets that allowed both of us to spend barely a month apart from each other. In June of 2021 Emily made the difficult and somehow still easy decision to move away from her home on the east coast and move with Cesar and his son Elijah into their home in Vista. With the love and support of our friends and family, on Valentines Day 2022 Cesar used the engagement ring (a beautiful gift of love and support from Emily’s 91 year old grandparents) and proposed to her at a vintage-style dinner and music show. And that brings us to now where she said YES and we get to plan two beautiful ceremonies with our lovely families!
