Where is the hotel block?

Answer

We currently have a hotel block at the Estelar Square Medellin. Please copy and paste the link below or click it directly from our "Schedule" tab in the drop down menu. You are not obligated to stay here, however, the wedding party will be staying here and the transportation to the venue will be leaving from this hotel. What day should I arrive? ¿Qué día debo llegar?

Answer

At the latest, guests should arrive into Medellín by the morning of August 8th, as we will have a welcome party that night. While we are not hosting any formal events after the wedding ceremony and reception, our family and many guests are planning to stay in Medellín to explore the city and the Feria de las Flores (Flower Festival) that is ongoing that week. Guests can schedule their departures as early as the morning of Sunday August 10th, or stay and explore. We will be arriving the night of Tuesday, August 5th and staying until Monday, August 11th. All who wish to explore with us when we're not on official wedding business are welcome! Los invitados que vengan de otros paises deben planear llegar antes del viernes, 8 de agosto si desean asistir a nuestro evento de bienvenida esa noche. A más tardar, los huéspedes deberán llegar a Medellín antes de la mañana del 8 de agosto. Aunque nosotros no tenemos organizado ningún evento formal después de la ceremonia de boda y la recepción, nuestra familia y muchos invitados planean quedarse en Medellín para explorar la ciudad y la Feria de las Flores que se llevará a cabo esa semana. Do I need a passport? ¿Necesito un pasaporte?

Answer

Yes, if you are traveling from the US or another country, you will need a passport with at least 6 months validity remaining. If you have any concerns about this and are planning to attend the wedding, please contact us directly and we can provide guidance. Sí, si viaja desde EE. How will I transport from the airport? ¿Cómo me transportaré desde el aeropuerto?

Answer

There are several options for transportation from the airport into El Poblado area of Medellín. Uber: Best option for English travelers. Uber is safe & reliable to use without having to communicate in Spanish & cost around $COP 115,000 (USD 30.) Official taxi: This option is also good, but make sure you find the official taxi queue & take from there. Avoid the people who seek you out as you exit customs offering you services. This option will require that you speak some Spanish & you pay in $COP. Expect the cost to be similar to Uber. Rideshare vans: These are available as you exit the terminal for approximately $COP 15,000 per passenger. The van drops passengers off at a park in central Medellín, where guests will need to transfer to a taxicab to complete the journey to El Poblado. This will be the least expensive option but will require that guests speak basic Spanish & pay in $COP. If you're uncertain about navigating the airport transfer, don't worry! Just reach out to us and we'll help you to arrange something you're comfortable with ahead of time. Hay varias buenas opciones para el transporte desde el aeropuerto hasta el área de El Poblado. Yes, especially Provenza and El Poblado, the areas of Medellín that we've picked for the wedding events. These areas are popular with tourists from all over the world, offering trendy shopping, dining, and nightlife options. That said, we do recommend that you take certain precautions when out and about. Don't wear flashy jewelry or handle large amounts of cash while walking around the city. If you have expensive electronics out, like your cell phone or camera, be mindful of who is near you. If you have a bag with you, keep an eye on it while you're dining or resting and never leave your belongings out of sight. If you follow these basic safety tips, you should expect to have a safe and enjoyable experience in Medellín. And please, if you're uncertain about anything, just drop us a message. What kind of currency is accepted in Colombia? ¿Qué tipo de moneda se acepta en Colombia?

In Colombia, you'll pay for goods and services in Colombian Pesos ($COP). Most ATMs in Colombia will allow you to withdrawal Colombian Pesos, but it might be a good idea to let your bank know you are traveling ahead of time so they don't lock your accounts for fear of fraud. You can also inquire about purchasing Colombian Pesos at your local bank or credit union ahead of travel. Many shops and restaurants in Medellín will also accept major credit cards. Cash in small denominations will mostly be useful for cab fares, tips, and small purchases like snacks and water. 1 USD is roughly 4,000 COP. En Colombia, pagarás por bienes y servicios en pesos colombianos ($COP). What will the weather be like in Medellín?

Typical temperatures for Medellín in July include highs of 78F (26C) and lows of 62F (17C). Nicknamed "The City of Eternal Spring," Medellín is known for its year-round moderate climate. As is common in tropical regions, it may occassionaly rain so bringing some light rain gear is advisable.

Do I need to bring any power adapters to charge my electronic devices?

Answer

No, travelers coming from the US will not need any special power adapters to plug in regular electronics. Colombia operates with the same plug types as the US, and with a 110V 60Hz power supply.

Is the water safe to drink?

Answer

In general, yes, the water in Medellín is safe to drink. However, the methods used to process and distribute tap water are different from those at home, so it's still possible to experience some digestive discomfort, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.

We love kids, but for the night we would appreciate that you have a babysitter on the schedule. We decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults-only event. We hope you understand & enjoy a night off! We can't wait to celebrate with you!
