I met Celina during our dormitory orientation on our first day of college. When I say “met” what I really mean to say is that she was the cute girl on the floor that never noticed me. Since our first semester of freshman year, I always caught glimpses of her out of the corner of my eye in the dormitory common room, but she always seemed preoccupied with something. It wasn’t until our second semester that I finally had the chance to talk to her. I’m not one to pull moves like Ryan Gosling like in Crazy Stupid Love, but after sitting next to Celina for half of our Microbiology Lab, and being the only male student in a lab class of twenty, I finally mustered up the courage to say, “Hey, I think you live on my floor” (she lived 5 doors away from me). Alluding to the saying of “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” I can proudly say that I’m a 100% shooter. Since that fateful day in Microbiology Lab, Celina and I became study partners. For most of college we were simply friends and classmates trying to survive the rigors of nursing school. By Junior year, we changed our relationship statuses on Facebook from “single” to “in a relationship.” My friends and family have always described me as "studious." They were half-right. On one hand, I was focused on my goal of becoming a nurse, but on the other, since Celina and I were study buddies, the more I studied meant the more time I got to spend with her. Since college, Celina and I have lived together, traveled the world together, and are parents to two rambunctious miniature dachshunds: Rocket and Boba. Celina and I can’t wait to celebrate our wedding with everyone. As much as it is a celebration about us, we also want to emphasize that it is a celebration of you all as well. We can both wholeheartedly say that each one of you have influenced us in some way and have helped us become the individuals we are today. Thank you again, and see you on our big day!
