Watching the sunrise on my birthday is something I always try to do but have always done by myself. So for my 30th birthday, I had 1 request for Benjamin— that we have to watch the sunrise on the beach. The sun rose at 6:18am and shortly after, he took his hat off to pull out a necklace he had hidden in the brim. He asked me if his hair looked decent before having us stand up so he could put the necklace on me…I wondered what his hair had to do with the sunrise, this moment, and this necklace…plus why can’t we stay seated? Little did I know that when I’d turn around, he’d be down on one knee My gratitude for just having someone to share the sunrise with turned into overwhelming joy.
