Yucatán es seguro? - Is Yucatan Safe?

¡Yucatán es el estado más seguro del país, y Mérida la ciudad más segura de América solo por detrás de Quebec! La gente es muy amable y siempre dispuesta a ayudar. Tan sólo recomendamos seguir las pautas de seguridad y sentido común normales como lo harías en cualquier otra ciudad, como cuidar siempre tu cartera o bolso, no aceptar nada de extraños, etc. Yucatan is the safest state in Mexico, and Merida the safest city in America after Quebec. People are very friendly and are always willing to help. Our suggestion is to do the norm you would do in any other big city for example watch your wallet, do not accept anything from strangers, if you feel you can be in danger remove yourself from the situation etc.

Mérida es La Capital de Yucatán. Mérida "la Ciudad Blanca" se distingue por ser una ciudad llena de paz, tranquila y por su gente amable y hospitalaria. Mérida fue fundada el 6 de enero de 1542, y construida sobre la ciudad Maya de Toh. Actualmente tiene cerca de 900000 habitantes. Merida is the capital of Yucatan. The “White City “is known for being quiet and kind and hospitable inhabitants. Mérida was founded on 6 January 1542, and built on the Maya city of Toh. It has a population of almost 900000.

Cómo llegar a Merida - How to get to Merida?

Hay dos opciones: volar a la ciudad de Mérida, o volar a Cancún. Desde Cancún se puede llegar a Mérida o bien en autobús (4,5 horas) o alquilando un coche (3 horas en una buena autopista de peaje) There are two options to get to Merida: you can fly to Merida or to Cancun and from there take a bus (4,5 hours drive) or rent a car (3 hours in a nice toll motorway)

Mujeres: Se recomienda usar ropa ligera y fresca debido a las altas temperaturas. Vestido largo o corto queda a tu elección. En ciertas zonas el suelo será irregular y en otras habrá césped. Quizá debas replantearte los tacones de aguja! Hombres: suit up! nos encantaría verte de traje. No obstante entendemos que será un largo viaje y que muchos continuareis vuestras vacaciones durante los siguientes días. Por eso también otra opción sería vestir de pantalón y guayabera (camisa típica de la zona). La podréis comprar en el centro de Mérida Women: we recommend to wear lights clothes due to the high temperatures. Gown or cocktail dress is your choice. The floor will be irregular. You might want to rethink stilettos! Men: Suit up! We would love to see you wearing a suit. Nevertheless we understand that it‘s a long journey and many of you will want to continue with your holidays afterword’s. Therefore you could wear trousers with guayabera (Mexican shirt). You can get it in Merida downtown
