While Jon was living in Nevada, it started with a dinner date in San Diego at Mission Beach's iconic Cannonball restaurant. One date turned into a weekly night out, which quickly got expensive for Jon... who still lived in Nevada. After a couple months or so of the long distant dating, we both decided we wanted to build our future together. Jon moved to Carlsbad, CA where we turned our home into a family of 4 with Mr. Duke and June, our fur babies. The rest is history.

It was Jon's birthday and I wanted to do something special for him so I decided to get an AirBNB for the weekend and invite all his friends over for a BBQ. The backyard of this place was pretty fun for a large group, everyone was either playing corn hole, hanging by the fire pit, looking over the lagoon at the dock, or helping cook in the kitchen, it was a great day. Jon mentioned he wanted to give a little speech and thank everyone for making the trek to Carlsbad for his birthday, This was not out of the ordinary for him to do. The time had come, everyone gathered and I sat with the group listening to him say thank you. Not far in the speech he asked me to stand by him "cause this wouldn't have been possible without Celia, so get up here please," were his exact words. At this point I still didn't think anything of it... he just wanted his lady up there with him. But then he started to walk away from me... far.... everyone was whispering and quiet and BOOM.... There it was. This beautiful man walking back toward me with a little black box in his had. I was so nervous and happy and of course I said YES! I had NO CLUE this was about to happen. The end.
