Our story began when we were teens on a beach in Hawaii. Little did we know that a simple July 4th celebration would be the beginning of such a wonderful journey. After a night of music, good food, great company, a daring fireworks display, and a few dropped s’mores, we both knew that there was a special connection. Two summers passed, teenage infatuation had turned into young love, and we found ourselves both living in California, albeit in different cities 100 miles apart. We must have taken close to 100 trips by train up and down the California coast to see each other over the next four years. The next 6 years brought with them a number of firsts. From moving in together, and welcoming a fur baby into our lives, to moving across the country and learning to call Boston home.
Similar to the lengthy cadence of the timeline that brought us to this point, our engagement was a year in the making. With the help of an award winning jeweler, a ring was designed and commissioned. The process from start to finish required a lot of in person meetings, which were held in secret as to not spoil the engagement surprise. During those 8 months both of our vehicles were taken in for an "oil change” way more than car manufacturers typically recommend. With the ring finally completed, all that was left to do was find the right moment to pop the question. That moment presented itself last Christmas as we were in Hawaii visiting our families. Days before Christmas, we took a vacation from our vacation and pulled out all the stops; the presidential suite, drinks and lounging by the pool, a seaside dinner backlit by the sunset. Under the same night sky that we first met, we began the next chapter of our story.
