Its downtown is known for late-1800s and early-1900s architecture, a riverfront promenade with shops and restaurants, and an arts scene anchored by the Napa Valley Opera House.

South Lake Tahoe

Only 1 hr. 53 minutes from our home. Historical Sites There’s a lot of history here. While you take in the modern amenities, soak in the Lake Tahoe area the way Mark Twain did. From Zephyr Cove Resort, built-in 1900 in response to the Comstock silver mining boom to Camp Richardson Resort offering city-folk a lakefront retreat since 1924, to Vikingsholm Castle, another grand estate of the 1920s, we can tell a story or two about life at the Lake in yesteryear.
