How We Met

Two Huskies Hit it Off

Elise and Andrew always ran in the same circle of friends in college but never really got to know each other until senior year - even though they each thought the other was cute. One night after a UConn Spring Weekend concert (s/o Fetty Wap), Elise ended up at Andrew's four-roommate apartment to hang out with friends. Elise was in charge of coordinating a 5K that weekend and peer pressured Andrew into signing up. The two hit it off that night and sure enough, Andrew ran the 5K. Even though Elise totally missed Andrew crossing the finish line, she admired his commitment to his word and the two went on several dates and enjoyed getting to know one another. After graduating that Spring, it took Andrew and Elise a few months to figure out what would happen next. Elise was going to an accelerated nursing program and Andrew was going to basic training in Texas for the Air Force. Eventually, the two found their way back to each other - being each other's supports during two extremely challenging times in their lives. Since then, they've never stopped.

The Proposal

10.9.2022

Andrew and Elise decided to enjoy the Holiday weekend with a "staycation" at Elise's family's cottage in Gloucester. Andrew made a dinner reservation for them at the Beauport that night but the time of dinner seemed to keep changing. Last minute, Andrew came up with a "crazy idea" to go on a beach walk before dinner for golden hour. Elise said yes and decided to go with the flow. The two walked down Wingaersheek Beach and eventually Andrew got down on one knee and asked Elise to spend the rest of her life with him. Elise, with tears in her eyes, said "Of course!"
