When we moved our wedding from June of 2020 to June of 2021, we thought we would be able to celebrate in a post-pandemic world. While the situation has improved over the past year, we have had to make some changes to ensure the health and safety of our guests. - Our wedding ceremony on June 19th has been limited to family and close friends. - Masks will be required for non-vaccinated guests. This is critical as some of our favorite guests are not eligible for the vaccine and it is important to protect them. - Update: Dancing will be allowed! After connecting online, we finally met in person on a beautiful summer evening at Woldumar Nature Center. We walked along the wooded trails adjacent to the Grand River and started getting to know each other. Matt shared his pursuit of earning a degree in Environmental Studies at Michigan State University and Erica talked about her two beautiful children. We clicked so well, that June 20th would be the date that we acknowledge as our anniversary.

Our first summer together would set the tone for the years to come. Long summer days were filled up with camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking and mountain biking. Matt worked extremely long hours at a full-time job while finalizing his undergraduate studies at MSU. Before long, Matt started a new career and we joined our households. Our family and friend circles merged with each passing holiday and celebration. We have supported each other through three half-marathons and many road cycling events. In the summer of 2019, we were able to mountain bike through the Himalayas for 12 days. Moments of extreme physical and emotional exhaustion were assuaged by our strong friendship and faith in one another. Of course, not everyday is exciting. But every day is full of love and laughter. Though we waited for so long to find each other, it also seems like we have known each other forever!

Matt proposed on our third anniversary! He surprised Erica with a candlelit dinner at the State Room, inside the Kellogg Center at Michigan State University. There was champagne, a diamond ring and a lot of mushy talk! Erica called her Maid of Honor, Maddy Nez, immediately! After dinner, we walked around campus, and started planning our special day. Of course, Sparty had to be the second one to hear the big news!

What better way to celebrate our fourth anniversary of meeting than getting hitched! Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held on June 19, 2021 at The English Inn in Eaton Rapids (south of Lansing). We will have a ceremony by the Grand River followed by a cocktail hour. Dinner and music to follow. We can't wait to celebrate with our family and friends!
