Our story began in 2011 when Justin and Emily began working together at Little Caesars. Justin had already been working for a few months when Emily got the job. When another coworker introduced them, Justin replied with "Sup?" and a head nod. We became good friends and hung out regularly. Fast forward to 3 years later, Emily comes home from MSU on summer vacation after freshman year of college. We started hanging out again. Justin worked all summer to "woo" Emily into being his girlfriend. She repeatedly told him no, until one day she couldn't say no anymore. We fell in love quickly and nothing could break us apart. We maintained a long distance relationship for 3 years before Emily graduated college and moved back home. We have worked hard and grown together over the last 8 years with lots of love and laughter along the way. We have 2 cats and bought a house together. We are so excited for the next chapter of our lives as husband and wife!
We were going up north to Frankfort, MI to celebrate our 8 year anniversary. The motto of the trip was "we're winging it" so naturally that became Justin's mindset for the proposal as well. Our trip started with a stop at the Sleeping Bear Sand dunes. We got to what Emily thought was the top of the dune but Justin wanted to keep climbing. She followed him uphill in the sand until it was too hot to make it any further. Little did she know at the time that Justin was trying to find the best view to propose. We eventually went back to our Air Bnb to get ready for dinner in downtown Frankfort. After dinner, we went to the beach to watch the sunset. We walked the pier and found a seat in the sand as the sun was going down. Justin asked Emily if she wanted to go walk in the water, to which she replied "I've walked enough in the sand today." (LOL). As the sun was setting, Justin realized he needed to propose before it was dark or else she wouldn't be able to see the ring. He quickly started to panic. When he was trying to get the ring out of his pocket, he was wiggling around quite a bit. Emily asked, "You okay over there?" and he said "Yeah, just trying to get my phone to check the time." The next thing Emily knew, he pulled the ring out and asked if she'd marry him. The rest is history!
