It's a fascinating story really. Joyce was studying her way through grad school and decided to hop onto the dating apps. Nick too was supporting a rather busy lifestyle commuting to work, socializing with friends, and involuntarily taking naps at the dinner table. They connected, struck up a conversation, and set their first date. Nick and Joyce met at a modern restaurant and bar for dinner in Santa Ana. Afterwards, they walked across the street to grab more beers, played giant connect four and jenga, and boba afterwards. Nick and Joyce talked about music, food, and, exchanged travel stories. They didn't want the night to end. Before they knew it, five hours had passed. Joyce who was unsure what happens after the first date, had debated if she should text Nick first or wait for him to make the next move. Shortly thereafter, Nick had messaged Joyce the next morning asking her if she too had received food poisoning from the dinner they shared the night before. (Spoiler alert: the answer was yes, but Nick had it way worse). They haven't gone a single day without speaking since. Their next couple dates consisted of rock climbing, axe throwing, and of course good food. A week later, the pandemic hit and everything had shut down. Nick and Joyce who still wanted to see each other spent most of their time watching outdoor movies, eating take-out dinners in the car, and camping. They learned a lot from each other. Joyce taught Nick how to snowboard, and Nick taught Joyce everything else. Thus, the adventures of Nick and Joyce had begun, and the rest as they say is history.
