The Wedding Website of Erik Cederwall and Kara DeWalt
Question

Where am I headed?

Answer

You'll book your flight to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN). All wedding events will be located at the Krusenberg Herrgård manor, which is ~25 min northwest of Arlanda airport and ~50 min from Stockholm.

Question

For which dates should I book my trip?

Answer

The welcome BBQ party (all guests are invited) will be held on Friday, June 28th, and the wedding ceremony and reception will be held on Saturday, June 29th. American guests - we recommend getting to Europe by Thursday so you can shake off the jet lag by party time!

Question

Should I bring my wallet to Krusenberg?

Answer

Not really. Rooms, food, and drinks are covered for the weekend. However, if you do prefer libations beyond beer, wine, and our signature cocktails, bring some Bitcoin or your credit card.

Question

What do I need to travel to Sweden from the US?

Answer

Valid US Passport with 6 MONTHS left before expiration date - we recommend checking your expiration date and renewing/applying ASAP if necessary. There are currently no COVID-related entry requirements, but please monitor for any changes.

Question

How far in advance should I book my flight?

Answer

A good rule of thumb is to book your flight no later than 4 months in advance. We recommend downloading the Hopper app or using Google Flight Alerts to watch flight prices - it will help indicate if you should buy your flights or wait for prices to drop.

Question

Will I need a car?

Answer

It depends on where you are coming from and you’d like to do. If you're coming directly from the airport or Stockholm, there are taxis that will take you directly to the property. There are plenty of activities to do on the property including sauna, paddle, walking paths and swimming in the lake. If you’re coming from another smaller town and/or plan to explore, a car is the best way to go. We recommend booking taxis in advance vs using Uber/Lyft.

Question

When is check-in and check-out?

Answer

Check-in is 3pm on Friday Check-out is 12pm Sunday

Question

What about wedding gifts?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is enough of a gift, however, should you wish to buy us something, we'd greatly appreciate a contribution towards our dream honeymoon or an item from our registry. Contributions and gifts can be easily found using this website under the Registry tab. Note: Please do not bring any physical gifts as the Bride and the Groom will not be able to transport any physical gifts back to the United Sates.

Question

What is a toastmaster? What if I would like to do a speech for the bride and groom?

Answer

One of the many differences between Swedish and American weddings is that we will have two Toastmasters to host our party. Sticking with Swedish tradition, anyone can give a toast at our wedding - so it’s a big deal & makes up a large part of our reception (making dinner last longer but way more fun). The duo handles the organization of toasts and events throughout the night and is a must-have Swedish tradition. If you’d like to make a speech, you must get in touch with our wonderful toastmasters, Alex & Tim, well in advance of the wedding weekend. Please contact them by email (karaeriktoasts@gmail.com) with your charming, fun & brief speech or ideas.

Question

What language is spoken in Sweden?

Answer

Swedish, but everyone speaks English as well. Sweden has been ranked #2 in the world for having the best non-native English speakers (after the Dutch).

Question

What currency is used in Sweden?

Answer

The Swedish Kronor (SEK). While FX rates fluctuate, a good rule of thumb is that 10 SEK = 1 US Dollar, so you can divide any price you see by 10 to get the USD equivalent.

Question

Do I need cash?

Answer

Stockholm is largely a cashless city, so you shouldn’t need cash while you’re there.

Question

How do I pay for things?

Answer

By credit card and/or Apple Pay. You'll most likely need to show a valid ID for purchases of any significance, so have that handy as well when making purchases. American Express is becoming more commonly accepted across Sweden; however, Visa and Mastercard will be accepted anywhere. To be on the safe side, American Express cardholders should consider bringing a back-up Visa or Mastercard.

Question

Is it customary to tip/add gratuity in Sweden?

Answer

It is not common to lean into tipping in Sweden; however if you are enamored with your restaurant server, the most anyone should tip is 10%.

Question

How do I buy alcohol from a store (i.e., not at a bar, restaurant, or hotel)?

Answer

Sweden has a monopoly on alcohol sales, so beer, wine and liquor can only be purchased at Systembolagat stores. Store hours are limited, so make sure to stock up when you visit.

Question

What will the weather / temperature be?

Answer

The end of June has an average high-temperature of 23°C (74°F) and an average low-temperature of 12°C (54°F). Swedish summer can be unpredictable, so come prepared with your bathing suit and a light jacket at all times. On its best days, the weather will be like San Diego summer. At worst, it will be like San Francisco summer (cloudy / slightly chilly / chance of rain). Get ready for long days and beautiful sunsets! In Stockholm, the average length of the day in June is 19hrs. Sunrise will be at around 3:30AM and sunset/golden hour will be at around 1AM.

Question

Will events be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

If we're fortunate to have beautiful weather, our events will be outdoors. If we face less desirable conditions, we will shift everything inside. Packing a light jacket and heels that won’t sink into grass are the best bet.

Question

What is the attire for the welcome BBQ?

Answer

Summer garden chic attire. We'll be outside by the lake so slacks with a blazer and summer floral flowy dress with a cardigan or shawl would be a great fit. Here are a few examples: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1EZkOHLcuf0rUDA1Rtz4IcvBxFheBUd1eI2E8_kvX280/edit?usp=sharing

Question

What is the attire for the wedding?

Answer

Semi-formal attire (dresses and suit w/ a tie). We hope to be outside in the apple orchard, so block heels that won’t sink into grass are the best bet. Here are a few examples: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1pcrlPOeIHeEBmvw21gZK_lKc98pjsVx8aeWAgRzmgMo/edit?usp=sharing

Question

Will my appliances/chargers/electronics work in the outlets?

Answer

Swedish outlets are quite different than those in the US, so you will need adapters and/or converters for your appliances. You can purchase them easily on Amazon or at the airport. Please remember that high-powered electronics like hair tools may need a converter instead of an adapter.

Question

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

We know a lot of people are traveling from afar to join us for the weekend, as well as enjoy a European vacation beyond our wedding events. While kids are more than welcome at the property, we'd prefer to have the reception and dinner be an adults-only events. If you’re planning to travel with your kiddos, please let us know & we’re happy to share childcare options we'll have available.

Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

As soon as possible! You can RSVP on the website to the events as well as let us know if you'll be staying at the hotel on Friday and Saturday night. We hope you can join us and are very excited to celebrate with you!
