We have had quite an eventful, strange year. We are now moving to our fourth home in 12 months, one of us finished grad school and now the other is a year into their degree. There have been multiple jobs, so much time together, and lots of struggles and growth. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate our marriage. We love you all so much.

Thank you all for celebrating with us today as we begin our life together as husband and wife. We are truly blessed to be able to celebrate this sacrament with so many of our family and friends. We are especially grateful for the love, guidance, and generosity you have given us constant throughout our lives. To our parents, who have given us so much love and guidance, thank you for bringing us to this day. You have exemplified the values of what married life should be, and you will be a source of inspiration as we begin our new life together. We love you very much! We would like to thank everyone for coming from near and far and sharing in our joy and happiness on this day. Dear Friends and Family, After a lot of thought and prayer, we have decided to cancel our June 13, 2020 wedding celebration. As much as we were looking forward to celebrating with everyone, we want to keep you all safe. We are sorry to everyone who will have to cancel flights and plans; our hope is that by making this decision now we can give you more time to be refunded and prevent anyone else from having to cancel later. We are still going to get married in a smaller setting in Boston on May 30. We are working on having a Zoom livestream available for you all to watch our ceremony; we will be sharing photos as well. Right now, we are hoping to set a date in June of 2021 when we can fully celebrate with everyone. We will keep you updated through our wedding website as we figure out how and when that will happen. Please keep us in your prayers as we begin our marriage in uncertain times and know that you are all in our prayers. Since our engagement back in December 2018, we have been overwhelmed by your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope you are staying healthy and well. We were in the same freshman class at the University of Dallas, and had a lot of friends in common. Neither of us remember our first meeting, but it was pretty early on that year. The first time we spent time just the two of us was a trip to the optometrist in Albano, Italy to pick out new glasses for Javi. His had been flung off ship into the Mediterranean by someone we won't name here. ;) The rest is history.

It was a very, very cold winter's day in Massachusetts. Javier had asked to go on a hike, so we bundled up and headed out to the Middlesex Fells for the afternoon. After about an hour exploring, we found a frozen pond and were admiring the patterns in the ice. Javi: Hey, can I ask you a question? Cecilia (distracted): Sure, what's up? Javi: Are you happy, with us? Cecilia: What kind of a question is that? Of course I am! Why do you ask? Javi, getting on one knee: Because I'd like to ask you to marry me. (Spoiler, Cecilia said yes!) And there you have it. It was perfect, just the two of us, walking around in the woods, engaged and grinning like idiots. We're still smiling about it. And so excited for you to join us at this celebration of our new beginning together!
