After a couple days Gavin was so brave texting me with a funny Christian pick up line. I laughed. Little by little he was on my daily routine. Disney quotes, HP jokes, at least 100 questions, video calls, and then something unexpected: "Hey, what if I went to visit you to Spain?" After a weekend I discovered he came during his birthday! We celebrated. It was a dream, and then he had to go away. We did not want that to happen. Some months later, he came back. Once, and then twice. More and more. In a rollercoaster of emotions and adventures, with falls and tears included we decided we wanted to be together forever. I knew it since the beginning, but it took a while for both of us to realize that this was completely insane and at the same time the best decision. Barcelona never imagined it would witness us falling in love. Gavin never imagined he’d eat the new and different foods I dished him! I never imagined moving so far away! We know it's going to be a great adventure, worth all the effort and pain, for that is the only way to see new horizons! We love it! We've conquer each other's hearts, we hope our reception also conquers yours.

How would you expect to say yes to the person you love? I'll tell you the story of how I saw all the knots but did not knit them. Late March, friends in Spain asked me random questions about Gavin and what if he asked me to marry him. Of course I was not expecting at all Gavin would do that. Luciana (my lil sis) asked: "white, yellow or pink" via emoji on WhatsApp. Even, Oli (a friend of mine) measured my finger. My mother asked me if I thought he would asked me to get married. After a troubled visa process for Canada, I was traveling to meet his parents. I was not thinking on an engagement surprise. Once in Canada we had so much fun, until Saturday, the 5th, in the morning I went and crashed a mountain bike. Among the pain, cuts, bruises, and a sore knee, we went to the lake that day, we had fun kayaking and playing games with the family. At the end of the day, we went back to our cabin to have dinner, when I went inside I found Desmond playing with balloons and Kristine whispering to him "don't show the surprise yet". It was weird to me, but I was focused on resting. Gavin had a different idea. "Hey Ceci, I'd like to have a special night with you tonight". After a pep talk he finally convinced me, and we ended up going to the lake with the kayak. Once the kayak was in the water, we enjoyed the night and nature surrounding us. It was worth it to leave the cabin to enjoy this. As I was looking around, I noticed some lights on the trees. I first thought they were fireflies. Weird fireflies. As I tried to figure out about the weird fireflies, he played 4 Disney songs. The last one was "At last I see a light" from Tangled. Just when it said "now that I see you", with shaking hands he slowly pronounced my name and said "quieres casarte conmigo?" And suddenly a ring was in front of me. Again I was dreaming, to say yes I had to wake up. We both hugged with happiness and joy. Back at the shore, his family was waiting for us with lighted up balloons on trees! Those were my fireflies! I was Rapunzel, Gavin my prince. All the elements were there and I knit them together when I said "Yes"!
