Copenhagen is our favorite city in the world, and what better way to experience it than with all of our favorite people! Beyond it being our personal utopia, we also found that booking a wedding in Copenhagen helped us stay within budget, which was harder to achieve in our research for venues in the US. We know it's far, so we are SO appreciative of anyone who is able to make it, and totally understand if you can't.
We'd recommend you leave the states Wednesday night to arrive Thursday morning, and staying through Sunday (at least)! The city in the summer is unmatched with so much to do and see. Once you're there, we can guarantee you're going to want more time (especially to try all of the amazing bakeries)!
CPH
Yes! Please plan to dress garden formal & however you feel at your best :-) We'd love to see everyone in summery pastels and earthy neutrals, with a preference for solid dresses & suits over busy patterns, but there's no strict color code!
We did not give any plus ones, as we only want our closest people with us on our special day! Please only come to the wedding with folks specified on the invite, but feel free to bring travel buddies with you to the rest of your vacation!
While you're more than welcome to bring your kids on your vacation, we kindly request the wedding is adults-only. Thanks so much for understanding, and we hope you can celebrate with us! Here is a highly rated babysitting agency in Copenhagen: https://www.thenannyagency.dk/eng/private-events
2pm at the latest!
Guests can take the train to the Klampenborg Station, where guests will then walk 10 minutes through the beautiful Dyrehaven (Deer Park) to the venue.
Getting around Copenhagen is easy, efficient, and VERY safe! Trains and the Metro connect CPH Airport to the city center in about 15 minutes, and tickets can be bought at station machines or via the rejsekort app. Trains are the easiest way to get around the city, and you can check Google or Apple Maps (or CityMapper) for routing, schedules, etc! Public buses cover the entire city, with tickets available on the rejsekort app. Taxis and Uber are available, but most newcomers prefer public transport, walking, or cycling for convenience and cost. Biking is super popular thanks to dedicated lanes and plenty of rental options, but if you aren’t an experienced biker, we’d recommend sticking to public transportation :-)
In June, Copenhagen’s weather is mild and generally sunny, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 60°F to 72°F. Pack light layers and a jacket for cooler evenings, plus comfortable shoes for walking around the city and its parks. We’d also recommend bringing a swimsuit, as one of the best things to do in Copenhagen in the summer is sunbathe and swim in the canals! With long summer days, the sun sets late (often around 10:00 p.m.) giving you plenty of daylight to enjoy the city!
Denmark uses the Danish krone (DKK) as its currency, not the euro. 1 US dollar is typically worth around 7 DKK, so $10 is ~70 DKK – so don’t freak out when you see your dinner bill is 500DKK+! We’d recommend sticking to your credit card to avoid foreign exchange fees. Last time we visited, we stumbled upon tons of cool vintage clothing stalls around the city on Sunday, which were cash only, so we’d also recommend taking out a small amount of cash for local markets and other small purchases!
Danish! But we've found everywhere you go, everyone knows English, so the language barrier problem doesn't really exist.
