Around The Horn Brewing Company was mused about in 2012, envisioned in 2014, founded in 2017, and finally brought to life in 2020. The brainchild of Andrew Sabatine, Rachel Sabatine, and Shirley Horn, it's the intersection of the trio's love of craft beer and their love of the beautiful California Sierras.
Distance Up to 6-mile loop Hiking time 3-5 hours High point: 4100 feet Elevation gain: 200 feet Difficult: Easy Season: Year-round Explore an isolated corner of Yosemite Valley, the world's best example of a glacier-carved canyon, for fantastic views of stark granite peaks and domes. Hundreds of years ago, huge boulders tumbled down the steep mountain to partially dam Tenaya Creek, helping to form aptly named and very popular Mirror Lake. It reflects its mountainous surrounding in winter and early spring when rainwater and snowmelt transform it into a temporary large pond.
The long and narrow Lower Yosemite Fall is framed by regal conifers, such as incense cedar and ponderosa pine, as the paved path winds toward your goal. After a 0.25 mile, arrive at a bridge spanning Yosemite Creek and a viewing area to photograph the fall. A Series of little pools and gentle cascades highlight Yosemite Creek.
The most classic view of Yosemite Valley is from Tunnel View. This vista, which will feel very familiar to most visitors, stretches out to El Capitan on the left, Bridalveil Fall on the right, Half Dome in the distance, and also takes in the lush valley at the base of the huge granite walls. Although it's an incredible sight at any time of day, in the morning, the walls are mostly in shadow. The best time to appreciate this scene is in the afternoon, when the walls are bathed in sunlight.
