On the other side of Tomales Bay is Point Reyes National Seashore! This beautiful coastal area feels like you're at the end of the Earth and is one of the windiest and foggiest places in the world. Late winter/early spring is Elephant Seal pupping season. While, Mid March is a bit late there might be some Elephant Seal pups lingering around Drakes Beach.
Muir Woods is a hour north of SFO and hour south of Tomales Bay. What a half point! Enjoy walking through a coastal redwood forest and tell all the banana slugs we said hello. If you decide to see these beautiful trees, you will need a parking pass. Parking passes usually sell out a week before visiting. Once you're done, head to Pelican Inn for lunch then enjoy Muir Beach.
One our favorite things to do! Enjoy a wonderful day out in the bay. If a bioluminescence tour is possible, DO IT.
Tomales Bay is known for the oysters and right across the street from Marconi is Hog Island Oyster Company. Tour, shuck, and enjoy.
Carolyn called Headlands home for a few years and is a special place to both of us. Won't get started on all the beautiful flowers that will be in bloom during this time (Larkspur on the Lagoon Trail, Shooting Stars on the Hill 88 loop). Head to the lighthouse to see harbor seals and enjoy Rodeo Beach.
We stayed in Bodega Bay for a weekend and had a wonderful time. Great seafood, a taffy shack, amazing hiking, nudibranch searching, and a chill beach scene. Oh and the house from The Birds is there. Half hour drive north of Tomales Bay!
The most epic beer flight.
Fifty minutes north of Marshall is one of our favorite sparkling wine spots. The Russian River region is the closest wine region to Tomales Bay and there will be plenty of wineries close to Iron Horse to hop around to.
One of the most relaxing wineries. Take a hike on Bart's property and enjoy some wine in an oak grove. Bartholomew is ten minutes from downtown Sonoma.
We've always wanted to do this! Cheese + driving around the rolling hills of Sonoma county = a beautiful day :)
What an unique place...factory tour, a chocolate & wine experience(free wine glass included), jelly belly art, and jelly belly shaped hamburgers. Our nephew gives this place 5 stars. Carolyn note: If anyone decides to go, please bring me some Juicy Pear, thanks :)
This seems silly but it really is the most beautiful Taco Bell. Where else can you slam a crunchwrap supreme and a marg overlooking the beach and ocean??? Around the area is Mori Point(great for a super bloom moment) and Humble Sea Brewing Co(Socks and Sandals IPA). Pacifica is 25 minute drive from SFO and 90 minute drive from Tomales Bay.
Cute town on the way out to Point Reyes National Seashore. Bakeries, cheese, weird hippies
