How We Met

6.1.2020

We first started talking on a dating app called Plenty of Fish. I honestly was on the app longer then I would like to admit and did not have much hope finding anyone serious on there, but then came along Cory. It was so easy to talk to him and our conversations just flowed and I found myself in search of only wanting to talk with him and looked forward to hearing from him every day. After months of talking, I convinced him to meet me and we never looked back. I dragged him along to various dates because if it was up to him we would just spend every night to ourselves at home which is fine but I like a little adventure. The adventure that changed everything was the adventure we took to Lake George, you can read a little bit more about that in the proposal section.

The Proposal

2.18.2023

We took a trip up to Lake George for the weekend because we planned to see the Ice Castles. The day before we were to leave for NY, the ice castles unfortunately had to close due to warmer climates but would still be open for the light walkway and the Ice Bar. We made the trip and enjoyed ourselves going to the Lake George Carnival and doing some shopping therapy for myself. Went to a nice lunch and went back to the hotel and enjoyed the hot tub before we made our way to the light parade at the Ice Castles. It was still magical, after taking some pictures someone offered to take our picture and when I went to get up Cory had asked me to marry him (I guess he had been sneakily hiding the ring box in prior pictures). After we enjoyed ourselves by getting some hot chocolate and hot apple cider and standing by the fire pits. I was so in awe that this just occurred, I couldn't believe he surprised me but it was an amazing time and after the night we got to see some fireworks from the carnival and went end our night relaxing in the hot tub. The proposal part 2 told from Cory! The days leading up to the weekend at Lake George were very, shall we say, stressful for me. I had the ring, but I had to hide that fact from Courtney because I just got used to telling her everything about me and anything that even came to mind randomly. I thought she for SURE knew about the proposal somehow, because she is very perceptive, and I was worried I would be unable to surprise her. I made sure to get the ring sized before I went, and when we left for Lake George I had the ring in my duffle bag to the hotel. While at the hotel the next day, she was getting ready for the day and I took the ring and placed it in my pocket. It looked like I was carrying around a big box there so I had to hide it with my jacket a lot. I was so nervous for the day because I knew I was going to ask her that night on the walking trail. I knew that any kind of plan I tried to make would just blow up in my face, so I took a few breaths and just waited for the time to feel right. The night came, and after doing a few pocket swaps with the ring box, I was ready to be a nervous wreck! When we started walking around I was looking around and thinking about how I could put the ring box into any pictures we took for added fun and to make it that much more memorable. When a kind man came by and stated he would take our picture I saw my chance. I made SURE that this picture had the ring in it, we are both sitting on the bench and if you look at my left hand you will see the green box. She stood and got her phone back, and I asked her to marry me. It was either the most romantic thing I have ever done, or the dorkiest. I actually hope its both since I love her even though I drive her crazy sometimes.
