At the end of 2017, two strangers decided that the best first date idea was hiking at Point Lobos. Naturally, both of us spent the beginning of the hike quietly wondering if the other person might secretly be a serial killer. Bold choice for a first date, honestly. But somewhere between the ocean views, climbing onto the rocks, and sitting by the water, the nerves disappeared and the conversation just… flowed. What started as a slightly suspicious hike turned into hours of talking, laughing, and realizing neither of us wanted the day to end. And somehow, that conversation has never really stopped since. As 2018 rolled around, we kept dating and quickly became inseparable. That year, we went to Evelyn’s high school prom together and had an absolute blast — dancing like nobody was watching, acting like complete fools, and making memories we still laugh about to this day. Somewhere between the music, bad dance moves, and nonstop laughter, we realized we just genuinely loved doing life together. In 2019, we tackled community college side by side, spent countless hours together, and even played basketball together. Somewhere between classes, practices, and everyday life, we became best friends as much as partners. As the years went on, we continued to push and support each other through every chapter of life — especially our education. Through late nights, stressful exams, and lots of caffeine, we stood by each other while earning our bachelor’s degrees, and cheering Evelyn on as she went even further to earn her master’s degree. No matter how hard things got, we always reminded each other that we were a team. Along the way, we also built our little family: we opened our doors to a baby boy named Kobe, and we’ve proudly been dog moms ever since, filling our home with laughter, love, and wagging tails. Since then, life has taken us all over the world together — from South Korea to Mexico, New York City, Missouri, Philadelphia, Puerto Rico, and Nevada — with many more adventures still ahead of us. Next stop: the Maldives. Through every trip, every season of life, and every new adventure, one thing has stayed the same: no matter where we are, we always find our way back to each other. Turns out neither of us was a serial killer after all… just two people who accidentally found their forever on a cliff by the ocean.
A finales del 2017, dos desconocidas decidieron que la mejor idea para una primera cita era ir de excursión a Point Lobos. Naturalmente, ambas pasamos el comienzo de la caminata preguntándonos en silencio si la otra podría ser secretamente una asesina serial. Honestamente, una decisión bastante atrevida para una primera cita. Pero en algún momento, entre las vistas al océano, subirnos a las rocas y sentarnos junto al agua, los nervios desaparecieron y la conversación simplemente… fluyó. Lo que comenzó como una caminata ligeramente sospechosa terminó convirtiéndose en horas de conversación, risas y en darnos cuenta de que ninguna quería que el día terminara. Y de alguna manera, esa conversación realmente nunca se detuvo desde entonces. Cuando llegó el 2018, seguimos saliendo y rápidamente nos volvimos inseparables. Ese año fuimos juntas al baile de graduación de preparatoria de Evelyn y la pasamos increíble — bailando como si nadie nos estuviera viendo, haciendo el ridículo y creando recuerdos de los que todavía nos reímos hasta el día de hoy. En algún punto entre la música, los malos pasos de baile y las risas interminables, nos dimos cuenta de que simplemente amábamos compartir la vida juntas. En 2019, enfrentamos juntas la universidad comunitaria, pasamos incontables horas una al lado de la otra e incluso jugamos básquetbol juntas. Entre clases, entrenamientos y la vida cotidiana, nos convertimos en mejores amigas además de pareja. Con el paso de los años, seguimos impulsándonos y apoyándonos mutuamente en cada etapa de la vida — especialmente en nuestra educación. Entre noches largas, exámenes estresantes y muchísimo café, permanecimos una al lado de la otra mientras obteníamos nuestras licenciaturas, y celebramos a Evelyn mientras seguía aún más lejos para obtener su maestría. Sin importar qué tan difíciles se pusieran las cosas, siempre nos recordábamos que éramos un equipo. En el camino también formamos nuestra pequeña familia: abrimos las puertas de nuestro hogar a un bebé llamado Kobe, y desde entonces nos hemos convertido orgullosamente en mamás perrunas, llenando nuestro hogar de risas, amor y colitas moviéndose por todos lados. Desde entonces, la vida nos ha llevado juntas por distintas partes del mundo — desde Corea del Sur hasta México, Nueva York, Missouri, Filadelfia, Puerto Rico y Nevada — y todavía nos esperan muchas aventuras más. Próxima parada: Las Maldivas. A través de cada viaje, cada etapa de la vida y cada nueva aventura, hay algo que siempre ha permanecido igual: sin importar dónde estemos, siempre encontramos el camino de regreso la una a la otra. Resulta que ninguna de las dos era una asesina serial después de todo… solo dos personas que accidentalmente encontraron a su para siempre en un acantilado junto al océano.
