Meeting

Bride’s Perspective

We met online out of pure luck, or maybe it was fate? After some conversation Chris asked me out on a date and I decided to take a leap of faith and said “yes”. Later that evening, I was getting ready at my friend’s house and putting on makeup, which is something I hardly ever do. Chris arrives and I start to come out of the house. My friend exits the garage first and exclaims “Oh WOW the car!”. I felt the panic set in because for some reason I expected her reaction to mean the car was a trash heap. I stepped out to see a corvette. Total opposite of my spiraling brain. I said goodbye to my friend and started down her steep driveway and… I tripped. Yep I tripped and caught myself over and over till I got to the bottom of the driveway. How graceful right? I came up to the door and the first thing I ever said to him was “Not what I expected’. Yeah his response to that was “Sorry?” After that we went to Taco Mac for our date and from there our relationship blossomed and grew. Eventually our story introduced two sons, Owen and Zachary, our whole world. Our little family.

Meeting

Groom’s perspective

I drive for 2 hours because traffic is awful and I'm tired, I pull up to a random neighborhood expecting to meet the girl from online, then all I see is a black guy walk out and I'm thinking if he comes to the car I'm gone, I don't know what's going on but I don't want to be involved. Then I glimpse her walking down the driveway and I'm like okay... At least she is who she says she is but damn, then we drove and looked for somewhere to go, she decided Tacomac was good so we went there.

Becoming a Mother

Bride’s perspective

While pregnant I read every article I could about everything needed to know about pregnancy and birth and newborns. I wanted to be prepared for every possible outcome and created a detailed birth plan for all of it. Then on June 20th 2022 every single detail of my birth plan went out the window because I didn't have a normal birth. I had what I now know is called a precipitous birth and the very nature of one is far different than the average birth. I couldn't get the nurses to listen to me at first and the doctor didn't make it until the last minute quite literally. Contractions only had seconds apart. I gave birth to Owen in under 3 hours unmedicated with no IV. The moment I heard his cry I felt something I've never felt before. It's a feeling that I cannot describe into words but I still feel it today. The uncontrollable want and need to lay down my life for the betterment of my baby if need be. Owen was all I could think about. For the first week I didn't get any sleep. I wouldn't allow myself to sleep because I was terrified that if I slept he wouldn't be there when I woke up. Chris convinced me to get some sleep and finally I did. Watching Owen grow up has been a blessing and humbling to my own views. Then having Zachary just made being a mother even better. Seeing Owen care for and love his baby brother and getting so excited to play with him. Seeing Zachary's big bright smile when he sees his big brother bouncing around the room. They make me feel complete.

Becoming A Father

Groom’s perspective

Becoming a father was interesting. She told me her water broke and I stayed calm and thought we had time so no need to rush. Then she got ready and I got ready and we went to the hospital, on the drive I started thinking I need to get there ASAP because it seems like he is coming sooner rather than later. We get to the hospital and I try to put her in a wheelchair, she refuses to get in, struggles to walk and then leans up against the wall and throws up on the floor, a nurse goes and gets a wheelchair and makes her sit down. Thank God, we get upstairs and they stick us in a room just Caylin and I and she keeps saying she thinks she needs to push and I'm like, the doctor needs to hurry up so I don't have to catch, I'm not a doctor but I could do it if needed. The nurses come in and say you're dilated to an 8 and he is coming now, the Doctor shows up just in time to catch Owen. I looked at him and his eyes were so blue they seemed fake.

Favorite Memory

Bride’s perspective

My favorite memory of Chris and I would have to be when we went to an AEW event. We have been once before but this time was different. It was my favorite wrestler Sting's tour before retirement and he was wrestling that night with his protege Darby Allen. The fight got taken to the crowd and extended right behind where we were seated. Darby ended up getting himself thrown into the back of my chair. Moments after Penta accidentally ran into Chris but when he did, Penta was the one that got knocked backwards. The whole thing was a wonderful experience that had us talking and laughing for months after.

Favorite Memory

Groom’s perspective

My favorite memory of Caylin and I is actually when we were staying up late and watching paranormal activity and it scared her.

The Proposal

Bride’s perspective

I had no clue what was going on that day. I was under the impression that we were all just going to go to Carowinds for some Halloween fun together. We stood in line for a long time before we got to a part in line where it splits. Those with strollers and bags had to go one direction for a thorough bag check while the other line was just single person walk through. After A LOT of convincing Ashleigh got me to go with her and Harleigh ahead of the guys to go to the bathroom. After we left there the boys were done with the bag check and we started walking to the main entrance of the park where there was a giant pumpkin. Chris was very adamant on getting a picture in front of this pumpkin so we all stopped there. We got a couple family photos of everyone and then Chris wanted one that was just me and him. Keith was taking the picture and he kept saying “okay.” And I thought that meant it was over and I saw Owen about to run off so I started to walk away. Ashleigh grabbed Owen and Chris tugged my arm. When I turned to look at him, he was on his knee and held out a box with a ring in it. I said yes and we hugged and I cried. Never thought I would do that but you never know until those situations happen.

The Proposal

Groom’s perspective

I had to have a cover story because I knew she would want her family around so I decided we would go to Carowinds as it seemed like a good place for everyone to have fun and not too suspicious, I had to make sure she wouldn't be around the ring when we were going in because of course we had to wait in the long line and they had to check everything, I had to send her ahead and when we finally got inside I saw the giant pumpkin and people taking pictures and I knew that was the right place, it would be a spectacle just how she wanted it. So we got a family picture then tried to "get one with just you and me." What a great cover story, she wasn't paying attention and she was trying to get Owen to stop running away from Harleigh and Kaden and that's when I got down on one knee and had to wait for her to look. She were stunned, people in the crowd cheered. I did good.
