We’re excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. You’ll find all the exciting details throughout our site, including a link to the hotel where we’ve blocked off rooms, a schedule for the big day, and a list of a few great places to check out around town. We can’t wait to see you in Canandaigua, and thank you for all your love and support! The countdown is officially on to September 3. See you then! Love, Cayla & James
We met at a party of a mutual friend (James' friend from high school, Cayla's friend from college) in our third year of college. We caught each other's eye and talked for a bit, but James had to leave with his friends to go to another party. Unfortunately, James didn't get Cayla's number. Eventually, James got his nerve up, asked for Cayla's number from their friend, and asked her out on a date. Cayla agreed to go mini-golfing on 10/1/15. We dated for about eight months, but Cayla was moving to Mexico for a year as a part of her program at school. We decided not to date during her time abroad, but when Cayla returned to Boston, she invited James, along with other friends, to a Red Sox game (James was taking too long to reach out, but jumped at the opportunity to see Cayla again) on 10/1/17. Dating anniversaries are always easy to remember because it is exactly the same day, two years later, that we started dating again.
On Christmas Eve (2021), James took Cayla up to Rockport to get Oysters for lunch before heading to his parents' to spend Christmas. After finally finding a place that had Oysters and was open on Christmas Eve, we enjoyed an amazing lunch and then drove to his family's beach house on Rockport to walk the beach. Cayla only started to get suspicious after we walked to the other end of the beach and James didn't seem to want to walk back in the 10 degree weather (he was waiting for the beach to clear out from the few people). Once clear, James shared with Cayla that a couple weeks prior, unbeknownst to her, he had driven down to NJ to ask for her parent's permission to marry her. Then getting down on one knee, James asked Cayla to marry him. We enjoyed the rest of our time off for Christmas celebrating with family and taking it all in :)
