10 years ago, Cayci and Nick both had Sports Medicine first period. Bright and early at 7:15 sharp (maybe not sharp for Cayci). God just so happened to align their second period as well, so they saw a lot of each other that semester. Nick knew he was not necessarily Cayci's type (iykyk) but decided that the shot was worth taking. After a four-hour long bomb evacuation drill, some encouragement from peers, and an exchange of Snapchats, some would say the spark was ignited. Any guesses on what their first "date" was? Of course, watching a Duke Carolina basketball game, where Nick proceeded to rile Cayci up by cheering for UNC (never again). The next couple weeks brought a promposal and the "will you be my girlfriend" question and that sealed the deal. Well, for a couple of years. Sophomore year of college called for a breakup. After four long years of fighting what we all knew wouldn't last, Lauren decided she was tired of the whole "just friends" thing. She invited Cayci to a joint graduation party for her undergraduate degree and Nick's master's degree with hopes she would show up. Well, Cayci did. Let's just say, not much time passed before Nick and Cayci decided they were tired of fighting the inevitable as well. Fast forward a couple of years, sports games still take up the majority of their date nights, but that's just the way they like it. Especially, because Nick has finally decided he is a Duke fan at heart. This past year has brought the addition of house keys and a ring, something those two kids from junior year may have dreamed about. Now at 26 years old, they both look back and acknowledge how God intricately planned the details of their story and brought them back to each other. In other words, if you get invited to your ex's graduation party, fearlessly walk in because it may just be the best decision you ever made.
