In 2021, after both Cay and Brittany had endured heartbreak, and after having an additional couple months of moping around, they did what anyone in their generation would do… they each joined an online dating site. Yikes. Many failed dates, weird people, and nearly ready to give up, it was Brittany who liked Cay’s photo on Hinge. Thus, opening the floor to conversation, Cay thought this is their chance and thought of a line no one would be able to resist… “Hey, how’s your weekend going so far?”. Genius. But hey, it worked. They went on their first date on September 12th of 2021. Lunch at a place they’ll never go to again, a walk through two separate parks, then went to Target and Spirit Halloween(because that’s obviously normal to do on a first date). They hugged goodbye, only for Cay to text Brittany not even an hour later inquiring about a second date. For the next month they went on a multitude of dates. One night they went to the drive-in theater to see Malignant and Candyman 2. Another day they went to the Great Pumpkin Farm to soak in the spooky season, and see the “moo” cows. They went to Dave & Busters, only for Cay to be beaten in most games by Brittany(not that Cay will admit it). A few bars, quite a few late night talks, and only a few weeks later, Cay knew this was it. On October 9th of 2021, Cay asked Brittany out to a nice restaurant. This is when Cay asked to “go steady”. Brittany of course said yes, and felt the excitement of everything anew. Their first year together brought them many tests and challenges. Brittany supported Cay through surgery and recovery, Cay supported Brittany through the mourning of her childhood home. Together, no matter what, they were determined to show up for each other everyday. By late 2022, only one year together, Cay bought the ring. Trying to find the “perfect” way to ask. To find the right time and right place, because this was the right person. April 2023, together before bed, Cay asked. In their pjs, having probably watched Bob’s Burgers, and eaten a sweet treat, what better time could it have been? The rest is history.
