We met through mutual friends. Our first meaningful encounter happened in the beginning of 2018 while celebrating a friend's birthday at Hand of Fate Brewing Company (Thanks, Brandon!). We sat across from each other and played board games with friends throughout the day. Megan managed to laugh at all of Phil's jokes and she remembers he kept her smiling all day long. On the other side of the table, Phil noticed a very cute girl with glasses and a beaming smile. He also noticed that she laughed at most (if not all) of his cheesy jokes. He remembers thinking could this be the girl of his dreams? The short answer is: undoubtedly YES! Carry on reading for the longer version.. For the next couple of months we continued to cross paths at various social events Springfield has to offer, like the FatAss 5k, bocce ball at Obed & Isaac's, and music festivals downtown. (Also, unknown to both of us at the time, our friends had been encouraging us to take a chance and get to know each other better.) In June of 2018, we met again at the Legacy of Giving music festival. Conversation flowed easily that night and again we both felt an immediate connection. Megan mentioned taking a road trip to St. Louis the following day with her cousin to see a show at the Fox Theater. At the end of the night while saying goodbyes, Phil told Megan she should let him know how her trip goes the next day. Megan couldn't forget what Phil had said the night before and decided to go for it. (Megan had conveniently saved Phil's number from a previous group text.) She gave him a full report on her day and waited to see if he would respond. After she had a couple of hours fretting no response from Phil, he finally responded and apologized for the delay since he was taking an afternoon nap. Megan's response.. "I LOVE to take naps, too!" The two of us have texted or spoken to each other every day since.
