It was 2011 and we were in Costa Rica on a mission trip with our church. Brendan and I were put in the same work group for the week, and we instantly hit it off. We spent 10 days straight together, and we got to know each other the best we could for two 15 year olds. During that mission trip, Brendan saw me at my worst. Our first day of working, I pulled a muscle in my back mixing concrete which limited my work ability. Then, I got really sick a few days later and wasn’t able to do basically anything, but Brendan didn’t care how I looked during that time he was just concerned for how I was feeling. This was one of the moments I knew I hoped he would ask me to be his girlfriend. For the rest of that trip we were inseparable. We spent the last couple of days at a beach in Costa Rica. It was the first night there and were eating pizza with everyone in our youth group watching X-Men Origins on a projection screen, Brendan turned to me and asked me to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history. Almost 10 years later and we are still inseparable. He’s my best friend, my partner in life, my biggest supporter, my shoulder to cry on, and he just makes everything better. Saying yes was the easiest decision I’ve ever had to make.
