How We Met

Slow & Steady Wins the Race

We met in August of 2018 at Bethlehem Church serving in the High School Ministry. We started talking right away and knew the feelings were mutual, I mean come on, how do you resist a guy with hair past his shoulders and camo crocs?? We had a long "talking stage" and then decided to be friends for a little bit (or a year and a half thanks to Dylan!) We became best friends and knew the entire time that we were meant for each other, even when it took a lot of patience and trust. On March 27, 2020 Dylan took me to the gun range to shoot my new handgun and he did a "training exercise" with me. He had me close my eyes and get ready to shoot wherever he tells me when I opened my eyes. When I opened my eyes there was yes, no, maybe, and heck no written on the target paper. He then asked me "will you be my girlfriend" and had me shoot the answer. Of course I was all excited and my hands were shaking so my first few shots were all over the place but the last shot hit the YES!

The Proposal

March 27, 2021

It was our "official" one year anniversary and we were supposed to be working on projects for Georgia Pines that day (or so I thought) and then go to dinner that night. I had been asking Dylan all week what he wanted to do for our anniversary and he acted like he had nothing planned. I figured we would work on projects and then go to dinner that night. I woke up early to work on projects, like we had planned but Dylan was not there or answering my phone calls. Little did I know, him and Moose (his giant chocolate lab) were in Madison, GA to look for the perfect proposal spot. I finally get a call back around 10:30 as Dylan acted like he had just woken up. I told myself I would not let it ruin the day, so I acted like I wasn't annoyed with him. He shows up to my house a little after 11:00 and says "since you have dinner planned, I'll take you to lunch." I was looking a mess from working (unlike someone else), so I go get ready and tell him to pick me out something to wear. Not knowing that he was going to propose, I made it super easy on him to pick out the right outfit that coordinated with his. I finished getting ready and then we head to Downtown Madison to eat at The Chop House. This town was special to his parents and we had gone there for our 6 month anniversary, so I still didn't think much of it (especially because I couldn't see a ring in his pocket.. yes I checked, but then told myself it wasn't happening today). He acted completely normal throughout lunch and then said his mom told us to go put a penny in the fountain like her and his dad always did. Little did I know, he had changed my moms name in his phone to his moms name to trick me. We walked to the fountain and he set up his phone to record a video to "send to his mom". We tossed pennies in the fountain and then I turn around and see my whole family there. Still not knowing what was going on, I turned to look at Dylan and he was down on one knee with the prettiest ring I had ever seen in his hands.
