I really can't tell you much about the first time we met. I remember Blake had come to Enid one weekend to go out with some of our mutual friends. I joined them the next morning at Wee Too for breakfast because biscuits & gravy - duh! I remember meeting him, but not much else. Fast forward to the fall of 2015, I went to dinner with Aly, Blake Schultz and Bly at Pheasant Run. Bly had spent the previous weekend in OKC with Blake Cottrill and was bragging about "all of the girls they picked up" as Blake Cottrill was newly single. Since I was also single, I thought eh, why not? I did what any girl would do these days and sent him a friend request on Facebook. We texted for a couple weeks before we went on a double date to Rib Crib with Blake & Aly Schultz. Four years later, here we are! While our relationship has been anything but easy, normal or traditional, it has made us stronger as a couple. We have been through challenges most couples never even think about, but I wouldn't trade our journey for anything! It has been a long time coming but he is well worth the wait. I can't wait to celebrate with our closest family and friends as we become the Cottrills!
It is NOT easy to surprise me! I'm a planner - I like to know all of the details ahead of time so I can make sure I am prepared. But Blake definitely pulled off this surprise! We went down to Austin, TX in September to watch OSU play Texas with some of our friends. Our friends have been going to Austin every other year for the game and this year, we made the trip too! On the day of the game, we got ready and headed down to the Blind Pig where every single OSU fan in Austin was spending the afternoon. It was a rooftop bar with a live band. We were hanging out, enjoying a cold beer when all of the sudden, Blake grabbed my hand to dance while the band played Wagon Wheel. Of course, I thought nothing of it - just started to two step right along with him. Little did I know, he requested the song and had his friends pushing the crowd out of the way so we had plenty of room to "dance". He spun me around and as I turned back to him, he was down on one knee with a BEAUTIFUL ring in his hand. I have NO IDEA what/if he said anything. My mouth fell to the floor and I couldn't stop laughing (I think I was in shock!). Of course I said YES and we spent the rest of the evening celebrating with our friends. The Cowboys lost, but we didn't even care. I was finally able to call him my FIANCE!
