Sydney and John matched on Bumble, a dating app, in August 2020. After two years of on and off messages through the app and snap chats, John decided it was enough. He had to meet this girl that caught his attention. He asked for her number then formally asked Sydney to go out on a date with him. She had never been formally asked out before, this was already showing how much of a gentlemen John was. Sydney happily accepted. They decided to meet at a sushi restaurant in Simi Valley, Ca. on Valentines Day, February 14, 2022. Sydney, being nervous as can be, invited her close friend to head to the restaurant early to make sure John was who he said he was (you never know with online dating). Sure enough, John checked out and Sydney was given the text of approval and exited her car. As she was walking up, she met John at the door of the restaurant. John sealed the deal by showing up with flowers and chocolates. Once they sat down, they spent the entire dinner talking about their lives, family and hobbies. Two bottles of sake later and the next thing they knew they were being told the restaurant was closing for the evening. They both looked up to realize everyone in the restaurant was gone and their food was barely touched. It was in this moment they both knew this was going to be the beginning of something very special. This was a Valentines first date done right!
Being in love with Sydney these past two years has been a tremendous joy. I never thought I would see the day when I found someone that could love me as much as I love them and then I found Sydney. Sydney knew what a great catch she was and made sure I did too. After two years of talking to each other, Sydney agreed to go on a date with me. I knew Sydney would be great for me and I for her, I was fortunate enough to land a second date with Sydney a few days later. Sydney and I became official after our third date as we both connected so well. After dating for six months and realizing that we were always at one or the others home, spending countless nights together, we decided it was time to move in together. Sydney helped greatly in improving my living space, by adding a woman’s touch of course. Once moved in, we celebrated by going on vacations in Vegas, Big Bear and Vegas again. Each trip was very special and we had a blast every time. Being with Sydney has brought a new joy in my life, knowing that Sydney loves me and cares for me is an even greater joy. Knowing I could spend the rest of my life with a hard working, kind and loving person, it was only a matter of getting the right ring and popping the question. After going to five different engagement ring stores, I found the ring that was perfect for her. I made sure to get permission from Sydney’s mom Wendy and from other members of her family before I asked the question. I asked Sydney out on November 20th, 2024 to go to her favorite restaurant Mastro’s Steakhouse in Thousand Oaks. We were seated in an area all by ourselves and I was as nervous as could be the whole night and could hardly act normal. Sydney knew something was up. After appetizers I couldn’t wait any longer, I explained to Sydney how much she means to me, how great she is and that I couldn’t wait to spend my life with her. I reached in my pocket and pulled out the ring box. I asked Sydney to marry me and she said yes with tears in her eyes. We were so excited and happy that we packed up dinner, shared a celebratory dessert and headed home to share the news with family and friends.
