In the spring of 2006 Elizabeth decided to take up skateboarding. There at the Rainier Vista Skatepark she spotted the cutest skater boy she'd ever seen. That skater boy was Sam Bice. When she started middle school in the Fall of 2006, Sam and Elizabeth were in the same "house." Elizabeth's mom remembers her getting in the car after her first day of 7th grade and saying, "Mom, I talked to him." Sam always thought Elizabeth was cute, but he was shy. Through that year Elizabeth would periodically gain the courage here and there to strike up a conversation with Sam. The next year Sam went to High School and Elizabeth started 8th grade. Their paths didn't cross much in High School. Sam joined the Army after graduating in 2011, serving in the 25th Infantry Division, just like Elizabeth’s Dad. While in the Army Sam lived in Georgia and Hawaii. Elizabeth attended Central Washington University studying Political Science. They both had their time to adventure, grow up, and find themselves in their twenties, staying "friends" on social media. Then, out of the blue, Sam commented on an Instagram post of Elizabeth's, and they never stopped talking after that first message. Sam was living in Spokane at the time and Elizabeth in Olympia. After a few weeks of texting, Elizabeth asked Sam if he had New Years Eve plans and ended up flying to Spokane to see him after work on December 31st. Within a few weeks she was back for another visit. They dated long distance for six months before Sam made the move back home to Olympia in July. Sam proposed to Elizabeth on September 21st at Rainier Vista Park where they first met 19 years earlier. Together Sam and Elizabeth enjoy going to concerts, spending time with their dogs, traveling, and watching movies.
Please RSVP by May 18th so we may plan accordingly. Please note that there is a FIFA World Cup Game in Seattle the day before the wedding and hotels (even in Tacoma) are booking up quickly so we suggest making reservations as soon as possible.
