How We Met

April 2017

Picture this... Catrina finishes playing a lawn game at a BBQ and is hangry and ready to eat, then she finds out the only meat left at the BBQ is steak..oh no. Enter Jaclyn, a new member of the Crossfit gym offering her her chicken. It was attraction at first bite. Cut to two weeks later on Jaclyn's birthday, drinking Coronas and listening to country music. One of them was quite aggressive in telling the other how beautiful they were, we all know which one, and the other just had to go the 10% and make the move. So Jaclyn said shut up and for once Catrina listened. It was love at first kiss. Best decision we've ever made. Hours later, not feeling quite 100% thanks to the celebrations, the two of them found their way to the gym to take the 10 am class. Although both were struggling from the night before, they pushed through.. only to find out the workout for the day was a partner wod. As fate would have it, they got paired up by the coach at random. Once paired, he asked 'How do you know each other'? They looked at each other in a bit of a panic wondering what lie they could tell when the only thought in both of their minds was "I kissed her last night". Both smiled and ignored the question and prepared for the workout. The next 25 minutes were both comical and intense. Trying to keep ourselves together so we could impress one another, we were mentally cheering ourselves on with 'keep it together', 'suck it in', and 'run better'. Needless to say, we somehow pushed through and came in first place. We've been a killer team ever since.

The Proposal

October 2018

After months of planning and having to keep secrets from Jaclyn (easily the hardest part), Catrina asked Jaclyn to go for a walk along the beach to their favorite coffee shop one Saturday morning. Though Jaclyn insisted on wearing pajama shorts Catrina was able to change her mind knowing what was about to come next. When we arrived at Sunset Cliffs, Catrina said "do you know how much I love you?" and Jaclyn replied "yes, duh, as much as I love you".... all Catrina had to say was "enough to marry me?" before Jaclyn starting crying and the rest passed by in a complete blur of emotions. We were engaged!!!!! As we walked home from the coffee shop Catrina told Jaclyn she was flying her up to San Jose to celebrate with her family and at that moment Jaclyn knew what she had to do. She had to find a way to secretly get the ring she bought Catrina from the jeweler so that she could propose in front of both of their families later on that night. Unbeknownst to Catrina, Jaclyn found a way to make it happen and at dinner that night Jaclyn got down on one knee, Catrina screamed, and the families sat there stunned! There were 1000 other details that went into this spectacular weekend but what matters the most is WE SAID YES!

For all the days along the way
