Our StoryOur Story

It was 2020—a year defined by sourdough starters, social distancing, and a global "pause." In a digital landscape where "the one" is usually found after a thousand swipes, Bryan and Cathy both decided to try the Coffee Meets Bagel dating app for the first time. Against all statistical odds, they became each other’s first and final match. It wasn't just a "swipe right"; it was a digital glitch in the matrix that turned out to be destiny, proving that sometimes the universe knows exactly what it’s doing on the first try. Because the world was closed, their relationship grew in the quiet, flickering spaces of FaceTime calls and thousands of text messages. They became professional K-Drama critics, bonding over every episode of Start-Up from their respective homes. While they agreed on their future together, they didn't always agree on the screen. To this day, a playful debate remains: Team Ji-pyeong or Team Do-san? Watching the drama unfold, Cathy may have had a soft spot for the "Good Boy" second lead, Ji-pyeong, but she was starting to realize that the "Main Lead" in her own life was the guy on the other end of the FaceTime call. By the time Bryan and Cathy finally met in person at the Ross Dock picnic area in the summer of 2020, the "getting to know you" phase was already over. There were no awkward first-date jitters or nervous small talk; there was only the comfortable, quiet realization that the person on the screen was even better in real life. They didn’t feel like strangers meeting for the first time; they felt like two people who had finally found their way home. Before they officially became a "forever" duo, they decided to expand their circle to a trio. They adopted Mina, a Shiba Jindo mix, all the way from South Korea. In what was arguably the most high-stakes “date night” of their lives, they headed to the airport on Valentine’s Day in 2024 to pick her up. While most couples were fighting for dinner reservations, Bryan and Cathy were at the arrivals terminal waiting for a furry, jet-lagged surprise. Mina became the first foundational piece of their new family—the bridge between their love for Korean culture and their daily life together. She taught them about patience, the necessity of long walks, and the fact that their hearts had plenty of room to grow. Flash forward to June 2024. Bryan had made a high-stakes promise: Cathy would be engaged before her next birthday. With only two weeks to spare and a "covert ops" assist from their closest friends, he led her back to the exact spot where it all began at Ross Dock. Waiting for them was a picnic blanket that held the four words they’d been building toward for four years: "Will You Marry Me?" Surrounded by the same view where they had their very first date, the promise was kept, the "Yes" was shouted, and their favorite K-Drama finally got its happiest ending yet.
