On May 1st, 2023, Cat and Wes meet at a leadership training event where Cat was the trainer and Wes was one of the trainees. When the training session was over both attended a bowling happy hour where they hit it off immediately. Wes was impressed with Cat’s bowling skills and Cat was impressed that Wes was preparing to run the full Flying Pig Marathon that Sunday. At the end of the night Wes turned to Cat and asked her on a date. Cat tried to play it cool but said yes very quickly. Their first date was the next day on 5.2.23. The two spent hours laughing, talking, eating and duck pin bowling at a local spot called Hoppin’ Vine. The two closed down the place and just knew something special was happening between them. Both weren’t looking for a relationship, both were focused on their careers and their social lives. Both had told themselves that “if it happens, it will happen.” And it happened, when they both least expected it… they found each other.

On the first anniversary of their very first date, Wes wanted everything to feel as magical as it did on day one. He secretly reserved a table at Hoppin’ Vine—the place where it all began—and found a clever way to set up a hidden camera to capture the moment. He also invited some of their closest friends and both of their parents to arrive just after the big question, making sure the celebration would be one they’d never forget. When Cat and Wes walked through the doors, Cat was pleasantly surprised to be back at the spot that held so many special memories. Drinks were ordered, laughs were shared, and as they reminisced about their first date, Wes seized the moment. He slid his chair back, got down on one knee, and pulled the ring—tucked nervously in his back pocket—out for Cat to see. She could hardly believe her eyes, and before she knew it, the entire bar burst into cheers and applause. Just as they were soaking in the excitement, both of their parents and some of their closest friends appeared with hugs, balloons, and a bottle of champagne courtesy of the bar manager. They toasted to the newly engaged couple and made more memories around that same place they had once closed down a year before. As the night went on, Cat and Wes decided that their wedding should also celebrate the date that brought them together—May 2nd—ensuring every anniversary would be just as unforgettable as the first.
