In 2022, Catherine was working as the OT Fellowship Program Director and she volunteered the OT Fellows to work at a conference. While there, they met Travis. The OT Fellows loved him immediately. Later that week, Catherine texted Travis’ work phone to see if the OT Fellows to come see his upper extremity limb loss clinic. A few weeks later, the OT Fellows and Catherine showed up to the clinic. The fellows fell more in love with Travis and wanted to invite them to their happy hour. Catherine quickly shot that down saying “we don’t know him.” Fast forward 1.5 months and Catherine was volunteering at a wheelchair basketball tournament in Dallas. She was swiping on hinge and came across Travis’ profile. She sent a screenshot to the OT Fellows asking if she should match with him. They responded with an enthusiastic “YES OF COURSE.” Catherine liked one of his photos and Travis responded later with “Hey, I think I know you.” We texted a few times and then Travis ghosted Catherine until close to Christmas. He then thought he could secure a date with a day’s notice. However, Catherine already had a date scheduled. Travis continued to text Catherine over the winter holidays and they finally went on their first date on January 6, 2023. At that point, Travis was couch surfing because a pipe burst at his rental. On their second date, Catherine helped Travis move a couch. For Travis, it was love at first site. The rest is history.
