Catherine & I met online during Covid. At that time, it was hard to find a reservation let alone try to meet someone. I sent her a message and thought, “Am I crazy? She’s out of my league!” I told her I had a fun evening lined up on Saturday night and would she like to join me? She replied that she needed more details. I told her I had a dinner reservation at Geoffrey’s at 9:15pm. She said, "It sounds like fun, but I don’t eat that late." Music to my ears! I quickly called the restaurant and got an earlier reservation (trust me, that wasn’t easy! Covid!) That was our first date—8/15/2020. When we checked in, we were told the maximum time for dinner was 90 minutes. Ninety minutes later, which felt more like twenty, we were asked to give up our table. Our early dates meant navigating Covid: masks, outdoor tables, sitting on sidewalks in the cold or the heat. I'm older than her and our friends would ask what could we possibly have in common? What do we talk about? The answer is simple. Laughter and endless conversation. We discovered how much we share—a love of music and cinema, fun dining experiences, being homebodies, fashion, art, and the occasional spontaneous travel destination. Somehow, in the most uncertain time, we found something effortless, steady, and completely right. We found us. -Catherine and Shawn
