Yes you are reading correctly, allow us to explain. St. Catherine's Chapel is closed on Mondays so we will hold the Catholic Ceremony the day before our celebration, on Sunday, August 30th. The Catholic Ceremony is optional to attend and has limited capacity. On Monday, we will hold the Renewal of Vows and Reception.
Since we have a beautiful ceremony space at the Boulders at Black Canyon Inn, and since not everyone will be able to fit at the Catholic ceremony on Sunday, we thought we would share with you all why we've chosen to marry each other. This will be a very simple and short service (~20 minutes) where we’ll share more personally about our journey to finding each other and why we’ve chosen to spend the rest of our lives together. The reception will take place immediately afterwards downstairs, beginning with a cocktail hour followed by dinner and dancing!
We began looking at wedding venues ~14 months in advance thinking we were ahead of the crowds, but apparently venues now fill up ~18 months in advance. For anyone out there considering getting engaged, you may want to just book the venue before even popping the question. So, our celebration will be taking place on a Monday, but we plan to throw a bash to rival even the most lit of Saturday nuptials. We very much hope you can make it!
Why yes! Estes park is at 7,500 feet. If you live at sea level or low altitude, this may take some adjustment for you. Even walking up a flight of stairs can feel more challenging, so please take it slow when you arrive. It's also dry up here, so drink tons of water and maybe bring some hand lotion. Alcohol will also effect you more strongly up here, so if you choose to drink, please keep this in mind! Finally, it is also very sunny and the high elevation can cause your skin to burn more quickly when in direct sunlight, so bring sunblock and wear a hat. No portion of our wedding will require you to be outside (there will be access to a patio during the cocktail hour and after dinner if you wish to be outside).
No.
Children ages 10+ are welcome to attend all events as long as they are well behaved. Younger children are welcome to attend the reception, but we ask that they do not attend the Catholic ceremony and the Renewal of Vows ceremony.
