We met in 2015 at University Townhomes, in Kent, OH, where I (Cat) was attending Kent State. Kale was visiting his best friend from home, Sam, on the weekends and I was one of Sam's crazy roommates (Shoutout Ashley, Dave and Whitney, and Townhome 1831). During those years, we were simply friends, and Kale, TC, Alex, and Sam introduced me to the world of EDM music (specifically the GOAT, Odesza) and the beauty of a late night car ride and the volume on max. When college ended, we all went our separate ways. However, two years later, Odesza was coming to town and I could only think of a few people who might want to go with me. Everyone got together for the show and it was the very best time. After that, we all got better at staying in touch, until we were all friends again, hanging out on weekends and seeing shows. Over the winter that year, Kale and I got much closer, and started dating. Beginning our relationship as friends, we fell in love slowly, built on a greater bond, shared insomnia, and a love of cooking, movies, music, and nights around a bonfire. The last 6 years we have spent building a life together, with our two cats, Feta & Fig, our cozy home where we have personalized or renovated every inch, and our famous basement speakeasy, lovingly named "Jabuzzi." Kale says that I push him to be his best, out of his comfort zone, and consistently remind him to dream bigger. I would say Kale is my home, a calm and safe space where I can always be my most comfortable and most true self. The balance of our relationship is why it works, and we give each other the pieces we needed all along.
