Yes, a passport is necessary. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of travel. If your passport is due to expire before you travel, you will need to renew your Passport; failure to do so may prevent you from traveling or entering back into the States. If you need to apply for a new Passport or renew your Passport for this trip, you need to begin the process immediately. It may take 6 or more months to get the Passport in time for travel (so do it now if you want to come!). If you need further information on passport procedures, check the Dominican Republic Embassy website at: do.usembassy.gov/
Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in the Dominican Republic. Before traveling, it's a good idea to contact your credit card company or bank to inform them of your trip, as they may place a security block on unusual foreign transactions. Be aware that some credit card companies charge a 1% - 2% international transaction fee, but you can sometimes avoid this by adjusting your plan in advance.

*Beach Semi-Formal* Think "cocktail beachwear" — semi-formal yet beach-friendly. For women, breezy maxi or midi dresses, jumpsuits, or sundresses in lightweight fabrics with dressy sandals, wedges, or chunky heels are ideal. For men, linen or cotton pants with a short-sleeve button-down, polo, or fun blazer work well. Loafers or boat shoes are great. Bring a wrap for the evening chill.
We'll be at the resort every day, so make sure to be comfortable. However, it's also our wedding, and we'll be taking lots of photos, so bring some great outfits too :) And don't forget, it's the beach with multiple pools everywhere, so embrace those summer vibes (even in March!).
Expect warm sunny weather in the 70s-80s (but of course anything can happen).
