By land: Marfa is ~approximately~ a 9 hour drive from the Houston area. Not a bad drive, if you have the time to take it. By air: The closest commercial airports are Midland/Odessa and El Paso. From either airport, it's just a short 3ish hour drive in your rental car to Marfa. For more adventurous travelers, Marfa Municipal Airport accepts charter and private flights (contact the airport directly to schedule, 432-729-3102). By sea: Not applicable.
Ride share services in Marfa range from available but limited, to non-existent. We've heard tell of an Uber driver or two around town should you be so inclined, but with nothing being far away in this tiny Texas oasis, there is little need to use them. El Cosmico is located roughly 800 yards from downtown Marfa, just a 3 minute drive from the other hotels listed in the where to stay section.
In keeping with our general personalities and the spirit of Far West Texas, both of our events will be casual, laid back affairs with no real dress code. Just don't show up naked and we won't kick you out! If the weather gods allow, all our events will be held outside, so comfort is key. The entire property of El Cosmico is unpaved with gravel walkways (except the dancefloor at the reception) so we would caution against wearing high heels, unless you can handle yourself like Carrie Bradshaw ;)
Marfa is located in the high plains desert, at an altitude of 4800 feet. Drink water! Stay hydrated! The average temperatures in October range from the mid 70's during the day, to the mid 40's at night. Plan clothing accordingly - bring something to keep the sun off your face during the day and the chill off at night.
